At the cultural center of Ty Dien village, Luong Tai commune, Bac Ninh province, a large number of people came to receive compensation and support money due to land being reclaimed for the Gia Binh airport project.
Mr. Vuong Tai Kha (residing in Ngoc Thuong village, Luong Tai commune) stated that he arrived at the Ty Dien village cultural center early in the morning to complete the procedures for receiving an advance payment of compensation and support due to land being reclaimed for the Gia Binh airport project.
“My family owns over 8 acres of reclaimed rice fields, and today we went to complete the procedures for an advance payment of nearly 700 million VND. Having such a large sum of money near Tet (Lunar New Year) makes my family very happy. I will deposit this money in the bank and give some to my children and grandchildren to invest in production,” Mr. Kha said.
Mr. Kha said that the people support the plan to build Gia Binh airport, so all households enthusiastically went to receive compensation to hand over the land to the State for the airport construction.
Ms. Pham Thi Thinh (residing in Ngoc Thuong village, Luong Tai commune) expressed her joy upon receiving over 1.2 billion VND in compensation and support.
"This is a huge amount of money, something I've never had in my life. I'll deposit it in the bank and bring it back after Tet to build a house. This money will also help my family celebrate the New Year in a more joyful atmosphere," Mrs. Thinh said.
Ms. Thinh also hopes that Gia Binh Airport will soon become operational so that the people of Luong Tai commune in particular, and neighboring communes in Bac Ninh province in general, can benefit from the project.
According to Mr. Tong Van Nghia, Deputy Head of the Land Management and Development Department (Bac Ninh Provincial Land Development Center), in Luong Tai commune, the agency mobilized dozens of staff to carry out land clearance work.
"Currently, we have advanced over 80% of the more than 900 hectares of agricultural land in Luong Tai commune. Nearly 100 hectares of residential land have been inventoried and are awaiting the necessary procedures for payment to the people," Mr. Nghia informed.
The Gia Binh International Airport project covers a total area of over 1,950 hectares (including over 124 hectares of phase 1). This includes approximately 888 hectares in Gia Binh commune, about 17 hectares in Nhan Thang commune, over 1,000 hectares in Luong Tai commune, and over 41 hectares in Lam Thao commune.
Gia Binh Airport is planned as a civil-defense international airport, covering over 1,900 hectares, with two runways 3,500-4,000 meters long, a capacity of 30 million passengers by 2030, and aiming for 50 million passengers by 2050. Once operational, Gia Binh Airport is expected to become a crucial air logistics hub, meeting the large-scale cargo transportation needs of the entire key industrial region of Northern Vietnam.
