On May 28, in Ho Chi Minh City, Tu Du Hospital in collaboration with Children's Hospital 1 successfully performed surgery to correct a complex congenital heart defect in a 22-week-old fetus of a Singaporean mother.
This is the ninth intervention case in Ho Chi Minh City, considered the most difficult because the fetus is very small (22 weeks old, weighing about 600 grams) and the medical condition is especially severe.
It can be said that the fact that a leading Singaporean hospital proactively refers patients to Ho Chi Minh City for treatment is not only a belief in professional capacity but also a recognition by the ASEAN region for the high level of technology in the field of fetal medicine in Vietnam.
This is an important milestone in the journey of developing fetal medicine and specialized techniques in Ho Chi Minh City, and affirms the determination of the health sector to develop Ho Chi Minh City into a specialized medical center in Southeast Asia./.
