Can Tho supports tuition fees for preschool children and private school students

(NLDO) – Can Tho City People's Council approved a draft resolution to support tuition fees for students of about 457 billion VND, of which 19 billion VND will be provided for students of private schools.

On November 14, the People's Council of Can Tho City, term X, 2021-2026, held the 6th session (special session).

Here, delegates unanimously approved the draft resolution "Regulating tuition fees for public preschool and general education institutions and tuition support levels for preschool children and private and public school students in the 2025-2026 school year in the area".

Accordingly, tuition fees for public preschool and general education institutions that are not self-sufficient in regular expenditure are as follows:

Preschool and primary school: at ward level, tuition is 100,000 VND/month/student; at commune level, it is 90,000 VND/month/student

Secondary school level: in the ward, the tuition fee is 120,000 VND/month/student; in the commune, it is 100,000 VND/month/student.

High school level: in ward tuition is 140,000 VND/month/student and in commune it is 120,000 VND/month/student.

Tuition fees for online learning are 75% of the above tuition fees.

In particular, the tuition support level for preschool children, high school students, and students following general education programs in private educational institutions is equal to 100% of the tuition level prescribed above.

Can Tho City leaders presented flowers to congratulate Mr. Nguyen Trong Son, Chief of Office of the City People's Committee and Ms. Ho Thi Thanh Bach, Director of the Department of Foreign Affairs and Mr. Nguyen Quoc Trung, Secretary of the Party Committee of Tran De commune.

The total estimated budget for tuition subsidy and support for educational institutions, students and learners to implement the resolution is about 457 billion VND; of which, the budget to support students of private schools is 19 billion VND.

At the meeting, delegates also approved a draft resolution on adjusting the investment policy for the Can Tho Oncology Hospital construction project. Accordingly, the total investment of the project was adjusted to increase from VND 1,727.9 billion to VND 2,071.9 billion.

At the meeting, the City People's Council considered removing Mr. Nguyen Quoc Trung, former Chief of Office of the City People's Committee, from the position of member of the City People's Committee for the 2021-2026 term.

Previously, Mr. Trung was mobilized and appointed by the competent authority to participate in the Party Executive Committee, the Party Standing Committee and hold the position of Secretary of the Party Committee of Tran De commune for the 2025-2030 term, and introduced to be appointed to hold the position of Chairman of the People's Council of Tran De commune for the 2021-2026 term.

Also at the meeting, the Can Tho City People's Council elected additional members of the City People's Committee for the 2021-2026 term for Mr. Nguyen Trong Son, Chief of Office of the City People's Committee and Ms. Ho Thi Thanh Bach, Director of the Department of Foreign Affairs.
