Can Tho is a potential market for promoting tourism to Japan.

According to the Japan National Tourism Organization (JNTO), Can Tho City is a potential market for expanding Japanese tourism promotion in Vietnam.

On January 13th, a Japan tourism workshop with the theme "Japan - Experiencing the Local Area, Discovering Diversity" was held in Can Tho City.

As part of the program, JNTO representatives shared updates on Japanese tourism trends, preferential policies for large groups of Vietnamese tourists, and destinations and experiences suitable for Vietnamese tastes.

According to a representative from BenThanh Tourist, Japan remains an important destination market for Vietnamese tourists, thanks to the harmonious blend of diverse natural landscapes, rich traditional culture, and high-quality services. Through this workshop, the company hopes to increase interest in and inspire tourists in Can Tho and neighboring provinces to explore Japan.

Units highly appreciate the potential of the Mekong Delta market, where international tourism demand is recording positive growth. As the economic and tourism hub of the region, Can Tho City is considered a convenient connection point for developing key tourism markets, including Japan.

Ms. Matsumoto Fumi, Chief Representative of JNTO in Vietnam, said that most Vietnamese tourists are first-time visitors to Japan, so they usually visit famous destinations including Tokyo, Mount Fuji, Kyoto, and Osaka – known as the "Golden Route". However, Japan's topography is similar to Vietnam's, so from north to south there are many attractive places with beautiful natural scenery and culture.

2025 marks the third consecutive year that Japan has recorded its highest ever number of visitors from Vietnam. For 2026, the Japan Tourism Agency aims to surpass the 2025 growth target and attract more Vietnamese tourists to visit various regions of Japan.
