The report shows that in 2025, the People's Committee of Can Tho City proactively advised the Standing Committee of the City Party Committee and the City People's Council to lead and direct the completion of quite comprehensive aspects of military and defense work. Notably, the arrangement of local military organizations according to the 2-level government model; achieving and exceeding many resolution targets; strictly maintaining combat readiness; firmly grasping the situation, advising on timely handling of situations, maintaining political security and social order and safety in the area.

During the year, the city successfully organized the Border Guard area defense drill; the Area 2 - Vi Tan defense drill and the Vi Thanh ward combat drill; thereby continuing to strengthen national defense potential and building an increasingly solid defense area.

Military Service Councils at all levels focused on leading, directing, and strictly implementing the process of selecting and calling citizens to join the army in 2025; closely organizing the military handover ceremony, achieving 100% of the target.

Military recruitment work achieved remarkable results when the Military Recruitment Boards at all levels promoted and provided career guidance to more than 50,300 students at 93 high schools; 190 candidates were admitted to military academies and schools. The city held a solemn commendation ceremony, recognizing the efforts of groups and individuals.

Speaking at the conference, Chairman of the City People's Committee Truong Canh Tuyen praised the efforts of all levels and sectors in 2025, and pointed out a number of limitations that need to be overcome. To complete the tasks in 2026, the Chairman of the City People's Committee requested the City Military Command, departments, sectors and localities to focus on implementing 6 key groups of tasks: Strengthening consultation and perfecting the system of state management documents on national defense; building armed forces in the direction of "lean, compact, strong"; promoting the construction of defense zones associated with socio-economic development; improving the effectiveness of civil defense, natural disaster prevention and control, search and rescue; strengthening inter-sectoral coordination in handling defense and security situations; and promoting the role of People's Committees of communes and wards - the level directly performing tasks at the grassroots level.
