Cang Long held a meeting with the Liaison Committee of fellow countrymen in Ho Chi Minh City to celebrate the Year of the Dragon.

Attending the event were comrades: Chau Van Truong, Deputy Head of Department 7, Central Inspection Committee; Chau Van Hoa, Director of the Department of Planning and Investment of Tra Vinh province; Huynh Thi Hang Nga, Secretary of the District Party Committee; Nguyen Van Nhu, Chairman of the People's Committee of Cang Long district; comrades in the Standing Committee of the District Party Committee, leaders of communes and towns and more than 150 delegates who are Cang Long's children living, working and studying in Ho Chi Minh City.

At the meeting, the representative of the People's Committee of Cang Long district informed about the socio-economic situation of the district. In 2023, the district's economic growth reached 11.16%; average income per capita reached 70 million VND/year. Most sectors and fields maintained a higher growth rate than the same period; many targets were achieved and exceeded the set plan. Political security, social order and safety were ensured; social culture made much progress, job creation exceeded the set targets. Up to now, the district has been recognized as 13 new rural communes; of which, 07 communes met the advanced new rural standards; Tan An commune achieved type V urban area.

In 2023, fellow countrymen supported Cang Long district to build 20 new rural bridges, 750m of road; 06 gratitude houses, 11 charity houses; 100 solar lamp posts; 1,500 gifts; 100 scholarships, bicycles and school supplies for students with a total amount of nearly 9 billion VND.

This meeting is an opportunity for the district leaders to meet, visit and maintain a close relationship with the people of Cang Long. At the same time, it is a bridge for the people of Cang Long to connect, share experiences in work, labor, study, and join hands to contribute to building the homeland of Cang Long more and more prosperous.

Speaking at the meeting, comrade Huynh Thi Hang Nga, Secretary of the Cang Long District Party Committee, affirmed that despite working, doing business and living far from home, many generations of Cang Long's homeland still turn to their birthplace with all their hearts, contributing a lot of effort and intelligence, mobilizing investment resources and actively participating in social security activities, contributing to the construction and development of their home district.

It is this concern and encouragement in terms of material and spirit that has helped the Party Committee, the government and the people in the district to always confidently move forward on the past and future journeys. At the same time, we call on the children of Cang Long in Ho Chi Minh City to continue to be a bridge connecting units, individuals and organizations towards the homeland of Cang Long to support material and spirit and contribute more so that Cang Long can develop more civilized.

On behalf of the Party Committee, government and people of the district, Secretary of the Cang Long District Party Committee wished the people of Cang Long hometown in Ho Chi Minh City good health, peace, prosperity and success in all areas in the new year 2024.

In recognition of the contributions of the Association of Fellow Countrymen of Cang Long District in Ho Chi Minh City, the Chairman of the People's Committee of Tra Vinh province decided to award 05 certificates of merit; the People's Committee of Cang Long district awarded 10 certificates of merit to collectives and individuals with many contributions, always accompanying and sharing difficulties with the Party Committee, government and people of Cang Long district in 2023.
