In his opening remarks at the conference, the Party Secretary and Chairman of the Board of Directors, Huynh Van Cuong, comprehensively summarized and evaluated the results of Saigon Port's performance in 2025. Accordingly, despite a volatile market and the ongoing restructuring and transformation into a centralized management model, Saigon Port has overcome difficulties and successfully completed all planned targets assigned by the Vietnam Maritime Corporation ( VIMC ).

Alongside production and business activities, investment continues to be promoted, focusing on infrastructure and equipment, creating a foundation for a new phase of development. In particular, the Can Gio International Transshipment Port project has been identified as a strategic investment priority in the coming period.

Mr. Nguyen Le Chon Tam – General Director of Saigon Port, reported on the implementation plan for 2026.

Following the evaluation, Mr. Nguyen Le Chon Tam – General Director of Saigon Port – clarified the business performance at each Center as well as the joint ventures and affiliated companies. The General Director of Saigon Port highly appreciated the optimization of operational area utilization in the Tan Thuan area, and also provided information on plans for repairing and upgrading infrastructure at the Centers in the near future, aiming to improve operational capacity and increase proactive management.

On that basis, the Board of Directors acknowledges and commends the efforts of the Directors of the Centers, the Executive Boards of the companies with capital contributions, the management teams at all levels, and especially the companionship and contributions of the entire staff and employees of Saigon Port.

Besides the achievements, the Conference frankly acknowledged the difficulties and obstacles in managing and implementing tasks. Accordingly, competitive pressure has increased; some infrastructure and equipment need further investment and upgrading; coordination between departments and centers is not yet truly synchronized; balancing resources, personnel, and project implementation in some units still faces many challenges.

Mr. Nguyen Duc Hong – Director of the Nha Rong Khanh Hoi Area Operations Center – pointed out the remaining limitations.

In particular, in the Tan Thuan and Nha Rong Khanh Hoi areas, the preparation for the implementation of projects directed by Ho Chi Minh City, scheduled for 2026, places high demands on land rearrangement, adjustment of exploitation plans, and ensuring investment progress. This reality requires close and proactive coordination among relevant units to minimize the impact on production and business activities during the transition period.

Ms. Le Thi Ngoc Dung – Deputy General Director of Cai Mep International Port Company Limited (CMIT) shared the results for 2025 and received the targets assigned for 2026.

Within the framework of the Conference, representatives from joint venture companies including SP-PSA, CMIT, and SSIT reported on their operational results for 2025, while also identifying targets, tasks, and solutions for implementation in 2026. With a proactive spirit and high determination, the leaders of these units affirmed their commitment to optimizing resources, improving service quality and operational efficiency, striving to complete and exceed assigned targets, and contributing to the overall results of Saigon Port.

Mr. Nguyen Anh Hao, Acting General Director of Saigon Gateway Port Joint Stock Company (SGT), shared the long-term direction and steps to gradually enhance SGT's position.

Notably, 2025 marks a significant improvement in the operational performance of Saigon Gateway Port Joint Stock Company, with cumulative cargo throughput reaching over 450,000 tons, an increase of over 68% compared to the same period in 2024. Along with the expansion of strategic cooperation in the Hiep Phuoc area, the official renaming to Saigon Gateway Terminal (SGT) marks a crucial shift in branding and development direction.

In the coming period, SGT will continue to accelerate infrastructure investment, notably the project to build an additional 8,000 m² of international standard warehouse and the plan to upgrade the Thieng Lieng mooring buoy system. These initiatives are expected to enhance operational capacity, increase competitiveness, and improve the ability to achieve the 2026 targets.

Prior to the implementation of the Thu Thiem 4 bridge project in the Tan Thuan area and the upgrading and expansion project of Nguyen Tat Thanh road in the Nha Rong - Khanh Hoi area, Saigon Port identified the urgent need to review, rearrange the layout, and adjust the operational plan at the inner-city ports.

Mr. Pham Phu Phong – Specialist from the Project Department – presented the progress of the Can Gio International Transshipment Port project.

Based on this experience, the Can Gio International Transshipment Port project has been identified as a strategic development direction. Currently, the project is in the investor selection phase. Once operational, the Can Gio International Transshipment Port is expected to enhance logistics capacity, attract investment, increase the international maritime standing of Ho Chi Minh City and Vietnam, and create momentum for regional infrastructure development, forming a logistics center and a free trade zone.

Based on the limitations identified in 2025, Saigon Port has set 2026 as a period to focus on comprehensively improving solutions in governance, operation, and investment. The focus will be on further streamlining the operating model, strengthening inter-unit coordination, removing infrastructure and land bottlenecks, and promoting technology application, improving human resource quality, and enhancing asset utilization efficiency.

The conference was a great success.

With clear direction and specific solutions, Saigon Port expects to create a solid foundation to achieve its 2026 plan targets, aiming for stable and sustainable development in the next phase.
