Lieutenant Colonel Ngo Hoang Anh, an officer of the Kien Hai Special Zone Police, stated that the crime and drug situation in the area has remained complex in recent times. Due to its unique characteristics as a coastal and island area, Kien Hai constantly faces the risk of drugs being transported from other places. Some individuals exploit tourism and service activities to buy, sell, or organize the illegal use of drugs.
At school age, students are often curious and eager to explore , but their self-awareness and self-protection skills are limited, making them easily susceptible to being lured and enticed into drug use by unscrupulous individuals. A moment of naivety or a desire to try something new can lead to the loss of their health, academic performance, and even their future. Therefore, equipping students with knowledge about drug prevention and control is absolutely essential.
After watching videos about the consequences of drug use, Nguyen Trung Luong, a 12th-grade student from Lai Son Junior and Senior High School, shared: “Seeing images of people using drugs completely out of control, shouting, I felt scared. Through this awareness campaign, I understand that just a moment of curiosity or following the persuasion of bad friends can ruin my health, affect my family, and my future. I am determined to stay away from this vice.”
According to Lieutenant Colonel Ngo Hoang Anh, to protect themselves from the dangers of drugs, each student needs to remember the "three no's" principle: Do not try drugs even once, because even a moment of curiosity can lead to addiction; do not hold or keep other people's belongings without knowing what is inside; do not conceal anything, but boldly report to teachers, family, or the police when you detect any suspicious signs related to the illegal buying, selling, storing, or using of drugs. "Drugs not only destroy health but also steal the future of students. Just one moment of curiosity, trying something out of curiosity, can lead students down the path of addiction, affecting their studies, family, and future lives. I hope that each student will value themselves, choose a healthy lifestyle, and say no to drugs," Lieutenant Colonel Ngo Hoang Anh said.
During drug prevention and control awareness campaigns widely organized in schools throughout the Kien Hai Special Zone, students not only received information but also participated in games and answered questions related to different types of drugs, their harmful effects, and prevention skills. The atmosphere was lively, with many students enthusiastically participating, answering questions correctly, and receiving small gifts from the organizers. This visual and engaging format helped students easily absorb knowledge, retain it longer, and enhance their self-awareness in saying no to drugs.
Tran Hao Nam, a 7th-grade student from An Son Secondary and High School, said: “I really enjoyed the Q&A session about drugs because I received gifts and it helped me remember the information better. I know that drugs are very dangerous, affecting health and causing users to lose control, disrupting their studies and impacting their future.”
Through lively, relatable, and practical methods, drug prevention and control propaganda in the Kien Hai special zone is gradually helping students raise awareness and equip themselves with self-protection skills, so that each student can firmly say no to drugs and build a bright future for themselves.
