Many people impersonating Vietnam Social Security officials call and text social insurance and health insurance participants, asking them to synchronize their citizen identification data.
15 minutes later, this person called Mr. T. back to ask if he used VssID software. Mr. T. replied yes. This person replied that if so, he did not need to go to the Social Security agency and asked him to call another phone number for instructions on how to update online.
10 minutes later, this person called back and said he was busy with work so he would transfer Mr. T's file to another person, with phone number 0949025... to help update the information.
Suspecting a scam, Mr. T. called the Dong Nai provincial Social Insurance agency to verify the information. Upon checking, the provincial Social Insurance agency did not have any staff with the phone numbers 0924635... and 0949025... calling to request data synchronization and CCCD update.
Meanwhile, in Binh Duong province, the scammer also asked people to update their CCCD on the application by accessing a strange link ending in ".govvvn.com" on their mobile phone and following the instructions.
Here, the screen displays an interface similar to the "VSSID - Social Insurance Number" application of the Vietnam Social Insurance industry. Then, the subject asks people to enter any phone number and password into this interface. After entering information such as instructions, people lose all the money in their bank accounts.
According to Vietnam Social Security, the situation of impersonating people of this agency to request CCCD data synchronization also appeared in many other localities such as Hanoi, Soc Trang , Ho Chi Minh City... with similar fraud methods.
Vietnam Social Security affirms that provincial and municipal social security agencies do not have a policy of calling or texting people to update information on the VSSID application - Social Security Number.
Through the above incidents, Vietnam Social Security warns people to be vigilant when carrying out administrative procedures to avoid being taken advantage of and scammed by bad guys.
In case of any problems when performing administrative procedures of the Vietnam Social Insurance sector, please contact the nearest Social Insurance agency directly or contact the Customer Support and Care Center via hotline: 1900.9068 or 0243.7899999 (during office hours) for support.
