The Food Safety Administration warns that consuming insects and larvae can cause serious poisoning and allergic reactions if not properly prepared. Although many types, such as grasshoppers, crickets, bees, cicada pupae, and silkworm pupae, have nutritional value and are commonly used in cuisine , they still pose a risk of containing bacteria, parasites, toxic fungi, or chemical residues.
According to doctors, there have been many cases of hospitalization after eating insects recently, including poisoning from cicada larvae infected with toxic fungi or allergic shock after eating stink bugs or silkworm pupae.
The health sector advises people to only use familiar insects from reliable sources; they should be thoroughly prepared, cooked completely, and not eaten raw or used to try unfamiliar insects.
