On the morning of November 14, at Dong An Hai village (Ly Son special zone), Coast Guard Station 2 (Coast Guard Region 2 Command) coordinated with Ly Son Border Guard Station and Ly Son Marine Protected Area Management Board to disseminate laws on preventing and combating illegal, unreported and unregulated (IUU) fishing to local people.
At the propaganda session, the officers introduced the core content of legal regulations in combating IUU fishing; emphasized common violations and legal consequences; guided fishermen on how to determine sea boundaries; record fishing logs, use voyage monitoring equipment and comply with entry-exit procedures according to regulations.
The units also answered many questions from Ly Son residents, focusing on regulations on handling fishing vessels violating foreign waters; the responsibility of ship owners in maintaining the operation of voyage monitoring equipment; conditions for receiving support when fishing offshore; and measures to prevent risks when operating at sea.

Major Tran Van Dong, Deputy Head of Station 2 of the Coast Guard, said that the propaganda session and response to people's petitions helped Ly Son fishermen better understand the legal regulations on aquatic exploitation, especially understanding the maritime boundaries, avoiding violations during the process of aquatic exploitation in the sea areas.
Propaganda activities also contribute to raising public awareness, creating cohesion between law enforcement forces and fishermen, thereby promoting compliance with regulations on preventing and combating IUU fishing in the Ly Son special economic zone.

Ly Son Island is located nearly 15 nautical miles from the mainland. The special zone currently has 468 fishing boats, of which 327 are 6m or longer.
On this occasion, the Organizing Committee presented 50 leaflets, 50 national flags and 50 gifts, encouraging fishermen to continue to accompany the authorities to protect aquatic resources and preserve sea and island sovereignty .
The authorities of Ly Son special zone are taking drastic measures to “eradicate” fishing vessels that violate the three nos; handle cases of fishing vessels that cross maritime boundaries, lose connection to monitoring their journeys, and avoid prolonged backlogs, ensuring that the task of combating IUU fishing is carried out synchronously and effectively./.
