According to Tuoi Tre Online , at around 2 AM on February 9th (the 22nd day of the 12th lunar month), Yen So fish market was bustling with buyers and sellers, mainly small traders selecting fish to take to local markets for sale.

Considered the largest fish market in Hanoi, during the peak season of the Kitchen God festival , Yen So fish market supplies tens of tons of red carp daily . To ensure sufficient supply, traders place orders well in advance from major fish farming regions such as Phu Tho, Hai Phong , and Ninh Binh, then bring them to Hanoi for sale.

According to traders, Tam Duong carp is the most popular type this year due to its eye-catching color and round, healthy shape. Regarding prices, compared to last year, the price of red carp has decreased, but demand is slower. The lowest wholesale price for red carp is around 90,000 VND/kg, while the highest is only about 150,000 VND/kg.

Ms. Nguyen Thi Huyen (owner of a fish business, kiosk number 1, Yen So fish market) said that this year she imported about 4 tons of Tam Duong red carp to supply the market. The popular type of fish, about 30 fish per kilogram, is currently selling for around 120,000 VND/kg, lower than last year.

"Last year, there were times when red carp sold for 150,000 - 180,000 VND/kg. This year the price is lower, while the fish are of good quality and uniform. As the 23rd day of the 12th lunar month approaches, the consumption of fish increases sharply," Ms. Huyen said.

Wholesalers say that from Yen So fish market to local markets in Hanoi, the price of red carp this year does not vary much. Retail prices range from about 90,000 to 110,000 VND/kg, depending on the time of purchase.
