Dong Van Stone Plateau receives the title "World's Leading Cultural Destination 2025"

On the evening of December 6, in the Kingdom of Bahrain, the World Travel Awards (WTA) 2025 Ceremony took place. At the ceremony, Dong Van Karst Plateau UNESCO Global Geopark, Tuyen Quang province was awarded the winning trophy in the category "World's Leading Cultural Destination 2025".

Attending the ceremony were representatives of international tourism organizations, management agencies, experts, businesses and the press from more than 100 countries and territories. Representatives of Tuyen Quang province attended, including Mr. Phan Huy Ngoc, Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee, and representatives of a number of provincial departments and branches.

Established in 1993, World Travel Awards is recognized as one of the most prestigious honoring mechanisms in the global tourism industry, becoming a measure of prestige, service quality and attractiveness of destinations on the world tourism map.

Chairman of Tuyen Quang Provincial People's Committee Phan Huy Ngoc received the winning cup in the category "World's Leading Cultural Destination 2025".

This is the first time Tuyen Quang province has had a destination honored in the group of world-class cultural awards, which is a particularly important milestone, affirming the stature, international competitiveness and increasingly prominent position of the province's tourism in the general picture of Vietnam tourism.

Ethnic minorities living in the communes of the Dong Van Stone Plateau still preserve many unique cultural features.

Speaking at the ceremony, the representative of Tuyen Quang province emphasized that this title is not only the pride of Tuyen Quang but also the world's recognition of the province's efforts to preserve and promote heritage values. This is an important driving force for Tuyen Quang to continue pursuing the goal of building tourism into a spearhead economic sector in the coming years.

Recognized by UNESCO since 2010, Dong Van Stone Plateau preserves the Earth's evolutionary history of more than 550 million years, was a "witness" of ancient oceans and is a natural repository of fossils from the Paleozoic, Mesozoic to Cenozoic eras.

The unique karst system, paleontological sites, caves, rare fossils and sedimentary layers piled up over hundreds of millions of years have created a rare, vivid "outdoor geological museum" in the world.

In recent years, Tuyen Quang province has effectively exploited the values ​​of Dong Van Stone Plateau to develop tourism.

Not only a geological wonder, Dong Van Stone Plateau is also a unique cultural space, where 17 ethnic groups live together and create a multi-layered, profound cultural value system. Indigenous architecture, rituals, folk knowledge, music, language and traditional crafts combine to form the unique cultural expressions of each community.

It is the originality, continuity and uniqueness of Dong Van culture that has created a distinct attraction, making it the "World's Leading Cultural Destination in 2025".
