On the morning of May 20th, the Vietnam-Korea Hospital in Da Nang announced that doctors in the General Internal Medicine Department had successfully treated two cases of acute cerebral infarction using thrombolysis.
The first case involves Mr. Nguyen C. (85 years old, residing in Quang Ngai province). Around 5:00 AM on May 17th, after returning from exercising, the patient suddenly felt extremely weak and experienced severe weakness on the left side of his body. Noticing the unusual symptoms, his family quickly took him to the hospital for emergency treatment. The patient was admitted at 7:15 AM in a state of hemiplegia (weakness and paralysis on one side of the body).

Immediately upon admission, the stroke emergency team promptly performed tests, a CT scan of the brain, and administered thrombolytic therapy. Less than 60 minutes after admission, the patient underwent cerebral revascularization.
On May 18th, the Department of General Internal Medicine continued to admit Mr. Le Ngoc Th. (71 years old, residing in Quang Ngai province) in a condition of facial asymmetry and weakness on the left side of his body. The patient was brought to the hospital at 3:10 PM, still within the "golden time" for stroke treatment.
Doctors quickly assessed the condition, performed necessary tests, and prescribed thrombolysis to dissolve the blood clot and restore cerebral circulation. By May 20th, both patients' health had improved significantly. Their weakness and paralysis improved noticeably, they were alert, responsive, and gradually regained mobility. They continued to be monitored in the General Internal Medicine Department.
The daughter of Mr. Nguyen C. said that when they saw her father suddenly become weak and paralyzed, the whole family panicked. "Fortunately, the family took him to the emergency room immediately, so the doctors were able to treat him in time. Currently, my father's health is recovering well," the family shared.
According to Dr. Le Thi Thanh Tam, Department of General Internal Medicine, Vietnam-Korea Hospital in Da Nang, thrombolytic drugs are most effective within the first 4.5 hours of stroke symptoms.
According to doctors, people need to remember early warning signs such as facial drooping, weakness or paralysis of the limbs, difficulty speaking, or slurred speech. When noticing unusual symptoms in a loved one, they should be quickly taken to the nearest medical facility capable of treating stroke, avoiding delays that could reduce the chance of saving brain function and the risk of disability.
