In May, the story of a little girl carrying her younger sibling to school went viral on Thai social media. The story was shared by the girl’s teacher.

The girl is a fifth-grader at Ban Klong Kaem Cham Primary School in Prachinburi Province, Thailand. In the viral video , the girl is seen holding her younger sibling while taking notes in class.

To ensure privacy, the real names of the teacher and the fifth-grade girl have been changed. Sharing with Thai PBS World (Thailand), teacher Ying - who posted the video on social media - said Green, the fifth-grade girl appearing in the video, is the eldest in a family facing many economic difficulties.

On the day Green brought her 1-year-old sister to class, her entire family was busy and no one could stay home to look after her 1-year-old sibling. Initially, the family decided to let Green take a day off from school to stay home and look after her younger sibling. But she didn’t want to miss school, so she decided to bring her younger sibling to class.

Seeing Green bring her younger sibling to class, teacher Ying encouraged her little student with the view that: "Doing so is still better than having to skip school and miss a class session."

Ms. Ying knows that everyone will have a different perspective on this story, but for her part, she hopes that students will try to attend school regularly, no matter how difficult or hard life is.

For Ms. Ying, little Green is a testament to her efforts to overcome difficulties. Ms. Ying also happily added that, fortunately, Green's younger sibling is quite well-behaved. The 1-year-old girl does not make any noise in the classroom.

As Green’s story went viral on social media and was picked up by many Thai news outlets, netizens showered her with praise. In her own way, she managed to do both her chores and her studies.

Many people also expressed their gratitude for Ms. Ying's actions, because she sympathized with Green and acted flexibly in response to her student's situation.

In October 2020, due to the complicated developments of the Covid-19 pandemic, the school where Jonathan Endecott studied switched to online learning. Jonathan was then in 4th grade at an elementary school located in Roswell, New Mexico, USA.

His family was very poor and did not have enough money to install internet. In order to study online with his friends, Jonathan came up with a way to walk to school and use the wifi signal on campus, because teachers still go to school every day to work.

Teachers were moved to see the boy showing up every day in a corner of the schoolyard to study online. One teacher shared the story on social media.

Immediately, a benefactor installed internet for Jonathan's family, and even paid the fees in advance for a year so he could study with peace of mind.

In October 2015, the story of an Indian boy - Harendra Chauhan (then 13 years old) - was mentioned quite a lot in the international press. It all started with the image of Harendra studying under a street light near a train station.

Vikas Sharda, a man who often saw Harendra studying under a street lamp, took a picture and posted it on social media. The photo quickly went viral.

At that time, Mr. Vikas shared: "This boy did not beg passersby to use his scale. I clearly felt the self-respect in the boy. I also respect him a lot. I hope those who take the train and stop at Noida station after 7 pm will use his scale and somehow help him."

Later, news reports in India found out about the boy Harendra and learned that his family was very poor, but he was very studious. To help his family, in the evenings, he often sat outside the train station with a scale, waiting for people who needed it. While waiting for customers, the boy diligently studied.

When the story became known, the Uttar Pradesh state authorities decided to support Harendra's education with a budget of 500,000 rupees (equivalent to more than 150 million VND). This amount was deposited in the bank and spent according to the plan.

Sharing with the press at that time, Harendra said: "I am very happy to receive this money. With this money, I can study further and thanks to that, I can help my family have a better life."

The story of the boy Daniel Cabrera was once mentioned in international news (Photo: The Guardian).

In July 2015, a photo of a Filipino boy, Daniel Cabrera, studying at a small wooden table he made himself and placed on the sidewalk went viral on international social media. Daniel studied by the light coming from a food store.

A woman passing by took a photo of Daniel studying and posted it online. The photo went viral and helped change the boy’s future, prompting many individuals and organizations to come together to find ways to help his family at that time.

The boy, his mother and younger brother were homeless. At night, the three of them had to sleep in a small restaurant. Daniel Cabrera’s father had passed away, and their house had been burned down.

At the time of this story, Daniel’s family had received a large amount of support money. The amount was estimated to be enough for Daniel to go to college. To ensure that the donations were spent properly, the Chairman of the Social Welfare Committee of Mandaue City (Philippines) said that the authorities had agreed with the boy’s family on the spending plan.

Daniel's mother, Christina Espinoza, did not have a stable job. Talking about her son, Christina said that Daniel was a very resilient, studious boy who loved going to school. He once begged his mother to let him go to school, arguing: "I don't want our family to be poor forever. I want to go to school to fulfill my dreams."
