Gomes is ready to join MU if Wolves give the green light. |
According to transfer expert Fabrizio Romano, the 24-year-old Wolves star is ready to join MU in January, even though the "Red Devils" are not allowed to participate in European Cup this season. The Italian journalist added: "Gomes is not an absolute priority target, but a good opportunity for MU if Wolves give the green light. And the player himself is eager to go to MU."
The MU scouting team consider Gomes to be an excellent midfielder. If Wolves listen to the offer, the Brazilian midfielder could become a viable option, especially when the fee is only around 44 million pounds, significantly lower than Carlos Baleba or Elliot Anderson.
Having joined Wolves from Flamengo in January 2023 and signed a contract until 2030, Gomes has become a key cog in the Molineux outfit. He has appeared in all 12 Premier League games this season, impressing with his ability to compete, recover the ball and his relentless fighting spirit.
There is a reason why MU is considering Gomes. The team is lacking a true “box-to-box” midfielder with Mason Mount constantly injured. Moreover, the top targets are difficult to approach. Brighton is asking 120 million pounds for Baleba, while Nottingham Forest wants a similar amount for Anderson.
Wolves have not decided to sell, but financial pressure and the need to rebuild the squad may make them consider it. If the deal opens, Gomes would be a reasonable solution for MU in the period of needing to strengthen the midfield at a reasonable cost.
