Haqimi Azim Rosli received news of his father's death in his hometown on the morning of December 9, while preparing with U22 Malaysia for the match for the top spot in Group B of the 33rd SEA Games men's football with U22 Vietnam, which will take place on December 11.
According to The Star , today, Haqimi Azim will temporarily leave U22 Malaysia to return home to take care of his father's funeral, then quickly return to Thailand to compete with U22 Vietnam.
A few days ago, Haqimi’s father suffered a stroke and was in critical condition. The U22 Malaysia player suppressed his sadness to focus on training. Unfortunately, his father did not survive and left behind a great loss.
"It is unimaginable the mental burden he is carrying," wrote Harian Metro .
Haqimi Azim was born in 2003 and plays as a midfielder. He was one of four players who scored for U22 Malaysia in the 4-1 win over U22 Laos on December 6, and also received the title of Best Player of the match.
Thanks to that victory, the Malayan Tigers are holding a big advantage when ranking above U22 Vietnam and only need to draw with their opponent in the last round to be sure to enter the semi-finals of men's football at the SEA Games this year with the top position.
"Now we are focusing on the next match with U22 Vietnam. Hopefully the team will fight to the best of their ability," Haqimi Azim shared.
