Truong Ky Bridge is located on the inter-commune road, from Truong Ky village to Phuong Duyet village. The bridge is 13m long, 5m wide, 1-span structure, designed load capacity of 13 tons, slab bridge type. The bridge was built in 1982 so its current condition is very weak.

According to the reporter's records, on July 16, 2025, the bridge's surface was bent like a hammock, shaking violently every time a small truck passed by. One side of the bridge's railing had completely collapsed and there were no alternative measures to ensure traffic safety. The bridge's foundation was cracked and sinking.

Living near Truong Ky bridge, Ms. Le Thi Dieu Linh (Truong Ky village) said that the bridge has been damaged for about 3 years now. Although the bridge is damaged and very weak, recently, a large number of heavy trucks have been passing through, posing many potential traffic safety risks. "Large trucks, especially titanium trucks from the old Vinh Thai commune, are running on this road, causing the damage to the bridge to become more and more serious," Ms. Linh said.

Previously, in October 2023, the People's Committee of Vinh Tu Commune (old) reported on the damaged and degraded bridge to the People's Committee of Vinh Linh District (old) and the District Economic - Infrastructure Department to soon have a plan and solution for repair; direct traffic regulation across the bridge. At that time, the local government warned that "if there are no measures to fix and prevent it, the bridge will collapse at any time".

At the same time, the government has put up signs restricting the weight of the bridge because it is weak to prevent the bridge from collapsing. However, the signs are only general warnings without specific weight figures and heavy truck drivers still drive across the bridge regardless of the danger.

Based on feedback and recommendations from local people as well as through actual inspection, on July 12, 2025, Vinh Hoang Commune People's Committee coordinated with the Commune Police to install height-limiting barriers at both ends of Truong Ky Bridge. Major Hoang Ngoc Minh, Chief of Vinh Hoang Commune Police, said that the installation of barriers is to prevent heavy trucks and tall vehicles from crossing the bridge; ensure safety for motorcyclists, cyclists and pedestrians; and extend the life of the bridge while waiting for upgrading and repair.

“It is absolutely forbidden for vehicles with large total loads, trucks, construction vehicles, and material transport vehicles to travel across the bridge. Unsuitable vehicles must proactively change direction to avoid causing unsafety and violating local regulations. The Commune People's Committee and Commune Police will strengthen supervision and strictly handle cases of intentional violations that affect traffic infrastructure and people's safety,” Major Hoang Ngoc Minh warned.

Chairman of Vinh Hoang Commune People's Committee Phan Ngoc Khoa added that the local government and people's wish is to invest in building a new bridge because this is a vital route. "Truong Ky Bridge is currently very weak, with a high risk of traffic safety. People have repeatedly requested to upgrade and repair it. The commune has made a public investment plan for Truong Ky Bridge and will soon approve it for submission to higher authorities for consideration," Mr. Khoa informed.
