To effectively build and develop economic models in the locality, the Lay Nua Commune Veterans Association has carried out many propaganda and mobilization campaigns to a large number of members. At the same time, the Association has focused on training and changing the way of thinking and working for members; helping them boldly change the structure of crops and livestock, applying science and technology and techniques to production labor. Thanks to that, many economic models have been built, which are typical examples for other households to learn and follow.

Mr. Khoang Van Anh, Chairman of the Lay Nua Commune Veterans Association, said: The Lay Nua Commune Veterans Association always stands side by side with its members in economic development. The Association regularly mobilizes and creates conditions for cadres and members to carry out emulation movements in labor production and develop household economy. In order to create the most favorable conditions for members to develop the economy, in addition to helping members change their thinking and have more creative ways of doing things, the Commune Veterans Association also creates favorable conditions for members to access loan sources, invest in production and business to develop household economy. Currently, the Lay Nua Commune Veterans Association has entrusted 5 savings and loan groups with the Muong Lay Town Social Policy Bank, with 195 households borrowing, a total amount of over 15 billion VND.

We visited the VAC model of Mr. Lo Van Tan's family, a veteran of Ho Cang village, Lay Nua commune. Taking us to visit the vegetable garden, barns and 10 fish ponds, he shared: After returning to the locality after being discharged from the army, I actively learned and took advantage of the locality's existing strengths to develop the economy. The family's production area is located near the lake, very convenient for water sources, so I developed fish ponds. Currently, my family has a total pond surface area of more than 6,000m2 , with 10 ponds raising different types of fish, both meat fish and fingerlings... On average, I earn more than 300 million VND a year from selling fish. In addition, the pond surface is also a source of water storage during the dry season. The land area on the shore is renovated by the family, growing vegetables to serve the family's needs and selling them at the market. The family also raises pigs and chickens, producing 3 batches a year, each batch earning an average income of 50 million VND. The family's VAC model brings in over 400 million VND in revenue each year after deducting expenses.

In Ho Cang village, veteran Lo Van Vien boldly borrowed capital, invested in importing goods, and traded groceries. Thanks to making good use of the initial loan capital, and choosing essential goods for the people; up to now, Mr. Vien's family grocery store is very crowded, earning over 400 million VND per year.
The effectiveness of propaganda and mobilization of cadres and members in the emulation movement for labor production with support from savings and loans for economic development in the locality can be seen. The economic development models of war veterans affirm the position and role of war veterans, contributing to the work of hunger eradication and poverty reduction, promoting the qualities of Uncle Ho's soldiers in the new era.
