The Commune Veterans Association coordinates with specialized agencies and units to organize training, transfer scientific and technical advances, guide members in choosing plant and animal varieties suitable to local conditions; deploy and replicate effective economic models.
Mr. Dieu Chinh Xuan, Chairman of the Commune Veterans Association, said: Since the beginning of the year, the Association has coordinated to organize more than 10 training courses on organic farming techniques, biological pest control, safe animal husbandry, waste treatment to make biofertilizers... for more than 700 members. The Association has encouraged members to actively respond to the emulation movements "Exemplary veterans in economic development", "War veterans join hands to build new rural areas and civilized urban areas", and mobilize members to unite, support each other in economic activities, and share production experiences.
Promoting the role of a credit bridge, the Commune Veterans Association coordinated with the Social Policy Bank to entrust 38 billion VND to more than 890 households to borrow to invest in production development, renovate mixed gardens, raise buffaloes, cows, native black chickens, raise fish in cages in the Da River reservoir... Every month, assign staff to coordinate with the Social Policy Bank to inspect and evaluate the effectiveness of capital use at the grassroots level. Thanks to the synchronous implementation of solutions, the rate of well-off and rich members is increasing.
Currently, the commune has more than 630 members who are well-off and rich, accounting for 80.5%; there is 1 cooperative, 2 farms and 10 family farms owned by members of the War Veterans Association, creating jobs for many local workers. Typical models include: Service business of members Vu Xuan Trao and La Van Dai with an income of over 200 million VND/year; Growing fruit trees on sloping land and raising large cattle in barns and breeding cows of members Lo Van Tham and Lo Van Inh with an income of nearly 250 million VND/year; developing breeding cows and caged fish farming on the surface of Son La hydroelectric lake with a stable income of over 150 million VND/year...
Visiting the cage fish farming model combined with community tourism of CCB Pham Van Doanh, Pa Uon village. In 2000, the Commune Veterans Association created favorable conditions for a loan of 50 million VND from the Social Policy Bank, along with accumulated capital, to invest in developing the cage fish farming model and gradually expand the scale.
Mr. Doanh said: Thanks to the application of techniques, the fish grow well; 30 cages for raising catfish, carp, and perch, yield about 40 tons/year, with a stable income of over 500 million VND. In 2019, I established Quynh Nhai Tourism Investment and Development Company Limited, operating in the field of restaurants, hotels and cage fish farming, creating stable jobs for 20 local workers, including 5 children of war veterans and more than 100 seasonal workers, with an income of 9-10 million VND/person/month.
Promoting the tradition of "Uncle Ho's soldiers", the Association of War Veterans in Quynh Nhai commune continues to promote the movement "Exemplary war veterans in economic development", replicate suitable economic models, support members in accessing preferential capital, technical training, improving income and quality of life.
