On the afternoon of January 18th, the official fanpage of the AFC U23 Asian Championship (under the Asian Football Confederation - AFC) unexpectedly posted a video selecting six young players as promising stars of the tournament.
Notably, the video shows that the AFC overlooked striker Nguyen Dinh Bac of the Vietnam U23 team, despite the 2004-born player's outstanding performance that led coach Kim Sang Sik's team to the semi-finals.
The striker from Hanoi Police FC has scored 3 goals in the tournament, trailing only the two leaders, Ali Azaizeh (U23 Jordan) and Leonardo Farah Shahin (U23 Lebanon), who both have 4 goals.
With the two aforementioned rivals eliminated, the Vietnam U23 striker now has a chance to compete for the top scorer title. However, Đình Bắc is still being inexplicably overlooked by the AFC.
This has caused outrage among many Vietnamese fans. The AFC's post received hundreds of angry reactions and countless questions from supporters.

"Where is Dinh Bac? Qatar and Saudi Arabia suffered humiliating defeats in the group stage, so what kind of future talent are they talking about?", commented a Vietnamese fan.
Many others share the same opinion, arguing that compared to the other players on the list, Dinh Bac also deserves to be included.
Specifically, the six players selected by the AFC as promising stars are: Abdullah Radif (U23 Saudi Arabia), Kang Sang Yoon (U23 South Korea), Saif Eldeen Fadlalla (U23 Qatar), Ryunosuke Sato (U23 Japan), Sardorbek Bakhromov (U23 Uzbekistan) and Behram Abduweli (U23 China).
However, Vietnamese fans shouldn't be too upset as we still have the semi-final match against China U23 ahead. And ultimately, winning the championship is the most important thing.
