Local authorities are working with people to overcome the consequences of natural disasters.

On November 1, the Hue City Civil Defense Command sent a document to agencies and units to rectify the posting of information about natural disasters on mass media and social networking sites.

In recent days, the city has experienced very heavy rain and floods, causing many losses in human lives and property of the people and the State. Information agencies, newspapers, radio, television and social networks have actively and proactively participated in transmitting information on the developments of rain and floods and the direction and response to natural disasters of local authorities at all levels to the people, contributing significantly to the work of preventing, combating and responding to natural disasters in the city.

However, through monitoring on some social networking sites, some information and images have appeared that are not true, exaggerating the level of impact of floods, causing panic, affecting the direction and operation of local authorities at all levels and the trust of the people.

To ensure that information and propaganda on disaster prevention, control and response are accurate, timely and consistent, the Head of the City Civil Defense Command requires that information agencies, newspapers, radio, television and social networks, when reporting on natural disaster developments, must fully cite the information content announced by the hydrometeorological agency and the City Civil Defense Command. Do not publish fake news, extract or post incomplete news, or news that causes panic.

The Department of Culture and Sports and the Department of Science and Technology shall strengthen inspection and supervision of information and propaganda activities on media, electronic information pages, and social networks, and coordinate with the City Police to strictly handle cases of fake news and images that do not reflect reality.

Agencies, units, and localities direct cadres, civil servants, public employees, and workers to use the full bulletin of the hydrometeorological agency and the City Civil Defense Command when posting news on the grassroots radio system, electronic information pages, and social networking sites. Absolutely do not share or disseminate fake information or unverified information; propagate and guide people to follow information from official channels of the Central and the City.
