As a locality with strengths in livestock farming in the Northern midland and mountainous region, Thai Nguyen has quickly identified digital transformation as one of the important pillars to improve productivity, efficiency and competitiveness of the industry. Not only stopping at strategic vision, the province is gradually concretizing it with practical policies and pilot models that bring clear results.
Action from practice, close to people's needs
In the context of the increasingly urgent need to develop green, smart and integrated agriculture , Thai Nguyen province has issued many resolutions and action programs to concretize the Party and State's policies on digital transformation in agriculture. In 2025, the province organized a thematic conference "Breakthrough in science and technology development, innovation and digital transformation in Thai Nguyen livestock industry".

Here, many fundamental solutions were agreed upon: building pilot models in key livestock areas; applying livestock management software and traceability; gradually standardizing industry data to serve state management; encouraging technology-providing enterprises to accompany farmers...
Digital transformation is no longer a distant concept, but has been identified by Thai Nguyen as a key driving force to innovate the growth model, improve economic efficiency, and contribute to solving challenges related to the environment, epidemics and food safety.
Implementing the direction of the Provincial People's Committee, the Department of Agriculture and Environment of Thai Nguyen has organized delegations to study experiences in a number of advanced livestock models at home and abroad. On that basis, many pilot models have been built, such as: applying climate sensors, automatic control systems, herd management software, organic waste treatment systems using biological bedding, etc.
The Department of Agriculture and Environment also builds a mechanism for technical support, software training, and connecting technology enterprises with cooperatives and livestock households. This is a “hands-on” approach, helping people not only access technology but also operate it proficiently, in accordance with local conditions.

Promoting connectivity and building a digital ecosystem
According to Mr. Do Dinh Trung - Deputy Head of the Department of Animal Husbandry, Veterinary Medicine and Fisheries (Department of Agriculture and Environment of Thai Nguyen province), Thai Nguyen determined that digital transformation cannot be done alone, the province is strongly promoting the connection of "four houses": State - Farmers - Scientists - Businesses.
Enterprises supplying technology equipment and management software are being encouraged to participate in providing complete solutions, suitable for the scale and investment capacity of each livestock household. In addition, the province is also directing the development of a livestock industry database system, gradually integrating with data on land, breeds, diseases, etc. to serve industry management effectively and transparently, serving both direction and risk management.
By 2030, the province's goal is for 100% of medium and large-scale livestock farms to apply at least one digital technology solution; 70% of livestock products to have electronic traceability; and at least 10 smart, closed-loop livestock models to be built along the value chain.
"Despite many positive results, digital transformation in Thai Nguyen livestock farming still faces barriers: lack of initial investment capital, unsynchronized digital infrastructure in remote areas, and limited technology level of livestock farming households. Therefore, it is necessary to have flexible financial mechanisms and preferential credit policies for digital transformation models. At the same time, promote propaganda, raise awareness, and train digital skills for rural people," Mr. Trung emphasized.
The synchronous participation of the entire political system, close support from functional sectors, and especially the initiative of livestock farmers themselves will determine the success of the digital transformation process. It is not only a solution to cope with current challenges, but also a strategic step to elevate the livestock industry of Thai Nguyen in the future.
