Born into a family with no university education, Du Hoang Khang (27 years old, from Soc Trang ) became a master's student in media management with a 2-year program at the University of Wroclaw (Poland). He is also participating in an exchange semester at Maynooth University (Ireland) and the University of Padua (Italy) thanks to a full scholarship from the Arqus Talent Scholarship Fund 2023.
As a former student of Ho Chi Minh City University of Economics , Khang participated in many volunteer activities and achieved high results during his studies. Studying abroad has been his dream since his university years. After participating in the AIESEC international volunteer project in Malaysia for 6 weeks, this young man wanted to try his hand at winning a government scholarship to step out into the world.

Taking advantage of all the opportunities that came his way and making constant efforts, once again in 2019, Khang received a 1-week cultural exchange scholarship in Japan from AYFN Academy.
Never give up on your dreams
Going to new environments and meeting many people from different countries made Khang feel like he was growing up little by little. Therefore, wanting his journey of self-discovery to be complete, he tried his best to win a government scholarship. He shared: "Because my family's circumstances are not well off, I know that only a government scholarship gives me the opportunity to step out into the world and learn more. Therefore, I have never given up on the path to conquering my long-cherished dream." Khang's journey to achieve that success also encountered many difficulties. He started applying for the scholarship in 2020. During the time of applying, he embarked on scientific research, built a personal fanpage and focused on working full-time at RMIT University Vietnam.

Khang confided: "I failed the scholarship more than 10 times, sometimes I was sad but never discouraged. Because I know that getting a scholarship is not easy because of the high competition. I always keep in mind that every time I fail, I will learn my own lesson, correct my mistakes and not give up easily". For Khang, life is like a "sine wave graph". Hardship and challenges on every journey are inevitable. But with an optimistic and persistent spirit, he said: "Hitting rock bottom is a solid stepping stone for us to rise again".
Go out into the world to tell international friends about Vietnam
Khang has been independent since childhood, has prepared himself with good English, learned a lot about the life of international students and is passionate about experiences. Therefore, when he received the news of winning a scholarship in July 2023, within just 2 months, he was ready to move to a new place to study. The dream finally came true, Khang cherishes the moments of connecting and interacting with international friends. "When I went to Europe, I took advantage of the holidays to travel . Currently, I have been to 20 countries," he said.

Although he has only been abroad for about a year, Khang has learned a lot of interesting knowledge. Not only studying in class, he also listens to stories from different cultures. "I also tell my international friends about the people, culture, and cuisine of Vietnam. And currently, I am participating in a project to enhance the cultural experience of international students in Ireland. I also learn a lot from the confidence of international students. And I understand that everyone has their own fears, but if they try hard, they can overcome them," he said. Currently, in his free time, Khang often shares his experiences and knowledge on the fanpage "Cu sinh vien" about academics, student life, foreign languages, and the office. For him, writing is a hobby. Through this activity, he wants to convey the knowledge he has gathered on his journey of self-discovery to everyone. Dominik Budzínki, a Master in International Relations student at the University of Wroclaw (Poland), Khang's friend, shared: "Khang is an active and dynamic person. He participates in many diverse activities and shows his best abilities in class. Besides, thanks to Khang's sharing, I learned a lot about Vietnamese cuisine, traditions, and culture." Ms. Aleksandra Matyja, an Intercultural Communication lecturer at the University of Wroclaw, commented: "I was very impressed with Khang's final project in the intercultural communication class. Khang presented the misconceptions and truths about Vietnamese culture to me and my classmates. I and other non-Vietnamese students were able to learn more about Vietnamese culture thanks to Khang's help."
