Quang Tri currently has more than 600 historical revolutionary relics and relic clusters. Despite many efforts, the number of tourists visiting the relic sites in the area is still not commensurate with the potential and advantages of the locality. One of the reasons leading to the above situation is that some tourism service businesses have not focused on service quality. Therefore, to attract tourists, in addition to investing in completing infrastructure, building and developing typical products of each locality, it is necessary to focus on improving and enhancing service quality.

One day in mid-June, the weather was hot and stuffy, my family went to Cua Tung beach, Cua Tung town, Vinh Linh district to rest and relax. That night, the Cua Tung town area had a power outage so the space was covered in a quiet night. The row of restaurants and hotels at Cua Tung beach were deserted. However, there were 2 shops at the beginning of the beach with bright lights. We decided to stop at the first shop...
As soon as I entered the restaurant, my first impression was the shimmering, magical light emitted from hundreds of light bulbs of various types, sizes, and colors. Inside the restaurant, all the tables were full. Not long before, my family had dinner at a restaurant in Dong Ha City.
When the staff saw that there were only 2 adults and 1 child, they seemed annoyed and said that we had to wait a bit longer because they were busy serving larger groups. When I entered this beach restaurant, I saw that there were many customers and most of the tables were full, so I thought about the previous restaurant's service. However, very quickly, a staff member came over to greet us and arrange seats for us. My initial concerns were dispelled.
Once seated in a nice corner of the restaurant, the staff brought the menu with a friendly attitude and patiently waited for the customers to order. Just a few minutes later, the staff brought out fresh seafood dishes. It is worth mentioning that the staff were all tired because of the large number of customers, having to move around constantly, but they always had a smile on their face when talking to the customers. Even when bringing out the food, they greeted politely.
Here, we met Ms. Thuy's family - an acquaintance living in Dong Ha City. Her family took advantage of the holidays to return to Cua Tung to rest, relax and enjoy the cuisine . "I stayed at the hotel next door, and ate at this restaurant. For the past 3 days, my family has come here to eat every day. This restaurant serves attentively, the dishes are fresh and delicious, so everyone from my grandparents to my children likes it. My family will come back next time," Ms. Thuy shared.

While the conversation was still going on, a manager came out of the restaurant and politely said, “The power grid is back. To reconnect the lines, the lights will be turned off for a few minutes. So, please understand!” The manager went from table to table to inform the guests.
Hearing that sharing from the manager, all the diners were happy to forgive. Having been to many restaurants and hotels in and outside the province, I can see that the manager of this restaurant has organized the work and instructed and trained the staff very professionally. The way of serving tourists here is completely different from many large and famous hotels and restaurants in Quang Tri province.
The next times we returned to the restaurant, we still experienced the same professional service. And, the restaurant was always packed with customers. This shows that, in addition to the quality of the dishes, the service style and attitude are the conditions to retain visitors and spread the brand in a quiet but effective way.
In addition, Quang Tri is also endowed by nature with many diverse landscapes and terrains. In the North, there is the Gio An ancient well system and Ru Linh primeval forest. The South is famous for Tram Tra Loc. The West has Dakrong scenic area; Klu hot spring; Chenh Venh waterfall; O O; Ta Puong; Luoi; Ta Puong and Prai caves; Huong Hoa Nature Reserve. The East has a long, gently sloping coastline with fine white sand and clear blue water. Sea service and tourism areas have been planned from Cua Viet to Vinh Moc tunnel with famous beaches such as Cua Tung, Cua Viet, Gio Hai... which are ideal destinations for tourists.
However, the number of tourists coming to Quang Tri is still not commensurate with its potential. Objectively speaking, the province's tourism industry has not developed commensurate with its potential and available advantages. One of the reasons is that the attitude and manner of serving tourists is not really professional and not oriented towards the long term.
Every hotel, restaurant or employee is a tourism ambassador. If the service is attentive, methodical, professional and receptive, tourists will have a good impression and will spread the word and recommend each other. On the contrary, if they have the mindset of "eating and staying", "cutting corners", only needing immediate benefits, tourists will only come once. Not only that, they also share the quality of service there with relatives, friends or post on social networks.
Therefore, to attract tourists, in addition to investing in completing infrastructure, building and developing typical products of each locality, it is necessary to focus on improving and enhancing service quality. Once the service quality is improved and tourists are satisfied, that place will be successful in tourism.
To conclude this article, I would like to share my own experience of the tourism management of a resort in Hue City. At this resort, every staff member, regardless of whether they are old or young, foreigners or Vietnamese, always smiles brightly and says “Hello!” During my 3 days and 2 nights here, wherever I went and whatever I did, I heard that phrase and received cheerful smiles. So much so that foreign guests who came here to relax also imitated smiling and greeting others with the very… Vietnamese phrase “Hello!”
Although I haven't been back for a long time, this service left a lasting impression on me.
