Morgan Rogers becomes Chelsea's new target. |
Chelsea continue to make waves in the transfer market, despite spending up to £173 million to rebuild their strikers in the summer of 2025. According to The Telegraph , coach Enzo Maresca is eyeing Aston Villa's Morgan Rogers.
Rogers only joined Villa from Middlesbrough in January 2024 for £15m, but his impressive performances of 14 goals and 15 assists have seen his value skyrocket. With five years left on his contract, Chelsea will have to pay a hefty sum if they want to bring Rogers to Stamford Bridge.
However, the deal is likely to only materialize if Chelsea can sell Nicolas Jackson - a striker who is no longer in their long-term plans. Villa could even become Jackson's new destination. However, Chelsea's asking price of £100 million shows that the London club wants to make a big profit from this deal, having bought Jackson for £32 million from Villarreal two years ago.
Jackson scored 30 goals in two seasons, but his recent form has dropped significantly, with just four goals since the start of the year and two red cards in his last five games, leaving Chelsea's board impatient. They want a real upgrade and Rogers is seen as the ideal choice, especially as he has experience playing in the Champions League.
Not only is Rogers talented, he also has a close relationship with the young players at Chelsea. He played alongside Cole Palmer at the Man City academy, and is familiar with Liam Delap and Jamie Gittens thanks to his time playing for England U21 and playing for Man City.
Chelsea are shaping up to be a young, dynamic and hungry side, and if Morgan Rogers arrives at Stamford Bridge, they will be even more formidable.
