All three organ donors were victims of traumatic brain injuries from traffic accidents. Despite the best efforts of doctors and nurses to save them, their injuries were too severe to survive.
In the pain of loss, the families of the three patients made a humane decision: agreeing to donate organs to continue the lives of strangers who are fighting every day with the disease.

A total of 31 precious organs were donated, including 1 lung, 3 hearts, 3 livers, 6 kidneys, 2 corneas, 2 blood vessels, 2 cartilages, 8 tendons and 4 nerves. This is an extremely large source of donated organs, requiring urgent intervention and smooth coordination between many professional teams.
As soon as receiving the information, Viet Duc Friendship Hospital mobilized maximum human resources, organized an urgent consultation and implemented a transplant plan for suitable patients.
From the source of donated organs, the hospital has performed lung transplants for patients with silicosis; heart transplants for three patients with severe heart failure; liver transplants for four patients, including two children aged 8 months and 12 years old treated at the National Children's Hospital whose lives were saved thanks to livers separated from a donor; along with 6 patients with end-stage renal failure who received kidney transplants.
These consecutive transplants in a short period of time require high level of expertise and tireless efforts of the medical team. More importantly, it is the result of the kindness and spirit of sharing life from the families of the three organ donors.
The extended lives are not only a medical achievement, but also a strong testament to the humanistic value of organ donation in Vietnam.
