Tra Tap is one of the mountainous localities that suffered great damage after the recent floods. Not only was it isolated due to serious landslides, but this place also had another pain that could not be overcome: Ho Minh D. (born in 2017, residing in village 6, Ca Dong ethnic group) unfortunately slipped and was swept away by the flood into the drainage in front of his house.
Vice Chairman of Tra Tap Commune People's Committee Ngo Tan Lac said that D.'s family is in a particularly difficult situation. His father, Ho Van Lai (born in 1988), a retired soldier, and his wife, Ho Thi Thieu (born in 2001), raise three children, living on a few acres of cinnamon and cassava fields, most of which have now been eroded, making their lives even more difficult. D.'s family's small house is located on the hillside, precariously balanced on the slope, and is now even more desolate after the heartbreaking incident.
The storm and flood had just passed, in the simple house, Mr. Ho Van Lai was silent when talking about his eldest son. Mr. Lai said, losing his son was a great pain for the family. D. was very obedient and a good student, loved by teachers and friends. Since the day D. had the accident, both husband and wife were almost mentally broken.
“During the most difficult times, my wife and I received the care and support of soldiers, the government and philanthropists. Thanks to that, my family was comforted and had more faith to overcome the incident,” Mr. Lai choked up.
Lieutenant Colonel Tran Van Tam, Deputy Political Commissar of the Defense Command of Region 3 - Tra My shared that many days ago, when hearing the news of D.'s accident, everyone in the unit felt sorry. Because before that, many people had the chance to meet D. during a volunteer trip. Immediately after receiving the information, the Defense Command of Region 3 - Tra My quickly grasped the situation, coordinated with local authorities to visit, encourage and support the family.

Recently, authorized by the head of the City Military Command, officers and soldiers of the Defense Command of Region 3 - Tra My traveled many kilometers of forest roads to visit and hand over the entire 100 million VND supported by Vingroup Corporation, sharing the pain with Mr. Lai's family after the flood.
But the journey to bring the gift to Mr. Lai's family was not easy. The more than 6km road from the center of Tra Tap commune to village 6, although concreted, was severely damaged after the flood. Many sections were slippery, motorbikes could not pass, officers and soldiers had to wade through mud and climb slopes to reach the victim's house. "The gift is a warm heart of sharing, giving Mr. Lai's family more strength to overcome this difficult period," said Lieutenant Colonel Tran Van Tam.
According to Senior Lieutenant Tran Van Tam, as soldiers, in addition to national defense duties, ensuring security and helping people in times of trouble is also considered a noble responsibility. Like the recent floods, when many areas in Tra My, Tra Tap, Tra Tan communes... were isolated, dozens of officers and soldiers were assigned to stay in the area, coordinating with local authorities to organize the evacuation of thousands of people from dangerous areas.
Taking advantage of the sunny days, many officers and soldiers of the Defense Command of Region 3 - Tra My went to the fields to help people harvest agricultural products, repair damaged houses, and transport food to isolated villages. Promoting the spirit of sharing with the poor people in the mountainous areas, the soldiers contributed to helping people stabilize their lives soon after the floods...
