Although living in a new, spacious house of 60 square meters for 3 months, for Ms. Pham Thi Tu in Bao village, Kien Tho commune, it is like a dream, something that she and her husband never thought would come true. Being a near-poor household, the family's conditions are still difficult, the children are of school age, while she herself is disabled, all expenses mainly depend on her husband's salary as a worker. For many years, her family has had to live in an old, dilapidated house, humid, hot in the summer and cold in the winter. Sympathizing with her family's situation, the Steering Committee of the campaign to build houses for poor households, policy households, and households with housing difficulties in Ngoc Lac district (old) has supported 80 million VND, along with savings, loans from relatives and the cooperation and contribution of neighbors, the family's dream of a house to protect from the sun and rain has been realized.
The joy of Ms. Tu's family is also the common feeling of many people in Kien Tho commune who have been supported to build and repair houses in the past time. Implementing the Campaign to support the construction of houses for poor households, policy households, and households with housing difficulties in the province in the 2 years of 2024-2025 in the spirit of Directive 22/CT-TU of the Provincial Party Standing Committee, Kien Tho commune has promoted propaganda work and many specific and practical actions. Especially with the assessment to ensure the right subjects, the construction of houses for poor, near-poor and disadvantaged households has received the support of the people, contributing money and effort to help the dream of settling down for poor households come true.
In the past 2 years, Kien Tho commune has built houses for 68 households, of which 13 households were repaired and 55 households were newly built. Up to now, all the houses have been put into use, bringing warm joy to many families. At the same time, the commune also regularly visits, encourages, and gives gifts to families in difficult circumstances during holidays and Tet to encourage and comfort them to always strive to improve in life.
Not only stopping at housing support, social security work in Kien Tho commune is also implemented with many practical solutions to help people have jobs, increase income and gradually escape poverty sustainably. Ms. Bui Thi Duong, Bao village, shared: "In 2022, my family was supported with a breeding buffalo for economic development. After 3 years of active care, the buffalo has now given birth to 2 calves. Thanks to this capital combined with farming, the lives of the two grandmothers and grandchildren have gradually become more stable."
Mr. Le Van Dung, Vice Chairman of Kien Tho Commune People's Committee, said: "Established on the basis of merging the communes: Phuc Thinh, Kien Tho, Phung Minh, currently Kien Tho commune has 3.17% poor households. To improve the effectiveness of social security work, the commune continues to seriously and closely review poor households, near-poor households, and households in difficult circumstances, and at the same time coordinate with mass organizations based on the conditions of each household to choose appropriate forms of support, such as: support for seeds, seedlings, job creation and regularly visit and encourage them to always make efforts. Thanks to that, the commune has aroused the spirit of proactively striving to improve the lives of the people."
Promoting the spirit of "mutual love and support", "no one is left behind", Kien Tho commune always considers the mobilization of community strength as an important driving force in social security work. After implementing the 2-level local government, the commune continues to promote propaganda work, promptly and effectively deploy many meaningful programs and actions, such as: building houses for poor households, creating livelihoods for people. Thanks to that, the participation of the entire political system has been mobilized, contributing to improving social security activities. In the past time, the commune's Fatherland Front has issued 6 appeal letters, mobilizing support for the fund for the poor, building and repairing school facilities.
