The Green Tourism Campaign was organized by the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment's Communications Center, the Center for Children and Development (CCD) in collaboration with the People's Committee and Youth Union of Nhon Ly Commune, Quy Nhon City, to bring initiatives in the chain of environmental actions to the community of students belonging to the "Green Leaders Network" formed after the Global Youth Conference 2023 (GYS 2023).
The campaign includes propaganda campaigns at more than 50 large-scale tourism service restaurants in the Nhon Ly Fishing Village area by delivering messages and calling for people not to use plastic bags, disposable plastic bottles and cups, not to trample or destroy coastal corals of the Fishing Village to preserve diversity, to limit bringing food and drinks from other places to the fishing village, and to dispose of garbage in designated areas.
At the same time, members of the campaign also support and guide tourists to scan QR codes to receive information about Green Tourism in Fishing Village, introduce environmentally friendly gift products: water bottles made from bamboo, recycled bags, handicrafts made from sedge of the fishing village.
Mr. Nguyen Thanh Danh - Vice Chairman of Nhon Ly Commune People's Committee said that Nhon Ly Commune People's Committee and Youth Union strongly support local youth to contribute green initiatives and take practical actions for the environment. The number of tourists from September 1 to September 4, 2023 in the commune is quite large, 24,130 visitors, therefore, Mr. Thanh Danh believes that the message "Join hands to act - Responsible green tourism" and the campaign "Green tourism - Reducing plastic waste" deployed in Nhon Ly Fishing Village with the support of the Youth Union and agencies will continue to be expanded as well as create many practical programs for the environment, reaching out to tourists to help contribute to forming a civilized tourism culture and preserving the environment in the locality.
