The family of Mrs. Nguyen Thi Huong in Hung Giang village is one of the near-poor households that benefit from the livelihood support policy. Her old age and frequent illnesses have made life difficult, but at the end of 2024, she was supported with a cow worth more than 10 million VND from the National Target Program for Sustainable Poverty Reduction. Thanks to good care, the cow has grown healthily and has given birth to its first litter, bringing joy and new hope to her family.
Not only Ms. Huong, many other households in Viet Xuyen commune have also been supported with plant varieties, livestock, loans and suitable livelihood models.
Mr. Nguyen Van Hien (Long Minh village) takes care of a flock of chickens supported by poverty reduction policies.
Mr. Nguyen Van Hien in Long Minh village is in poor health and often sick, so he cannot do heavy work. Thanks to support from the poverty reduction fund, in early October, he was given 70 chickens and 300 kg of bran to develop a breeding model. In addition, he also participated in training courses on chicken raising techniques and methods of preventing and treating diseases in chicken flocks.
The model brings economic efficiency, helping people escape poverty sustainably.
According to Mr. Hien, this model is very suitable for his health condition. Not only is he supported with breeds and initial materials, but he also receives regular guidance and inspection from local officials, helping the livestock model operate effectively and sustainably.
In recent times, Viet Xuyen commune has implemented resource allocation according to the principles of publicity, transparency, prioritizing the right subjects, avoiding widespread investment; at the same time, mobilizing additional social resources to improve efficiency.
Mr. Le Huu Chuong - Head of Hung Giang village, said: In recent times, Viet Xuyen commune has synchronously implemented many poverty reduction measures. In addition to loans from the Social Policy Bank, mass organizations such as the Women's Union, Farmers' Association, and Youth Union have also built a fund to support members in difficulty to borrow capital for economic development. Cadres, party members and mass organizations are also assigned to stay close to the locality, directly guide and "hold hands to show" poor households to change their production thinking, boldly apply new models to increase income.

After implementing the 2-level local government model, Viet Xuyen commune focused on reviewing and re-evaluating all poor and near-poor households. On that basis, the commune built a plan and roadmap for poverty reduction close to the reality of each village and each household. In just 5 months since the commune merger, the locality has provided breeding support to 15 chicken-raising households and 8 cow-raising households, creating more stable livelihoods for the people. At the same time, the commune always promptly provided full information on State policies, helping people easily access resources.
