The handover of assets at Phu Quoc International Airport involved parties such as the People's Committee of An Giang province, the Airports Corporation of Vietnam (ACV), the Southern Aviation Authority, and the investor of the Phu Quoc International Airport expansion project.
All parties involved have agreed that the handover and acceptance of assets at Phu Quoc International Airport will be conducted in a principled, thorough, and compliant manner.
Furthermore, it is essential to ensure that no state assets are lost at the enterprise, and that there are no delays in the implementation of subsequent phases to expand the airport to welcome the Asia- Pacific Economic Cooperation Forum (APEC 2027 ) in Phu Quoc.

Previously, on December 15, 2012, Phu Quoc International Airport (with a total investment of 3,000 billion VND) officially commenced operations.
Phu Quoc Airport covers an area of 905 hectares and meets the 4E standard of the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO), ensuring it can accommodate long-range, wide-body aircraft such as the Boeing 777-300 and Boeing 747-400, and may accommodate a limited number of A380-800 aircraft.
In 2018, the expansion of Phu Quoc Airport contributed to increasing the passenger terminal area from 24,325 m² to 36,167 m² ; the number of boarding gates increased from 4 to 12 (8 domestic, 4 international); the number of baggage conveyors increased from 5 to 7; and the terminal's passenger service capacity increased from 2.65 million passengers/year to 4 million passengers/year.
