On January 15, the Hanoi People's Committee announced the decision to reorganize Chu Van An High School and Son Tay High School into Chu Van An High School for the Gifted and Son Tay High School for the Gifted under the Department of Education and Training.

These two schools are organized and operated in compliance with current regulations of the Ministry of Education and Training for specialized high schools. The schools will be under the direct direction and management of the Department of Education and Training and other relevant agencies.

Previously, although both schools recruited specialized students every year, they were not called specialized high schools. When they become specialized schools, according to the regulations of the Ministry of Education and Training, the enrollment quota for non-specialized students of the two schools as before will no longer exist.

Thus, currently, Hanoi has 4 specialized high schools under the Department of Education and Training: Hanoi - Amsterdam High School for the Gifted, Nguyen Hue High School for the Gifted, Chu Van An High School for the Gifted, and Son Tay High School for the Gifted.
