The Spring Flower Market in Hanoi's Old Quarter, also known as Hang Luoc Flower Market, dates back to the 1920s and is closely associated with the culture, customs, and habits of the people of Hanoi and the image of its 36 streets. Having existed for over 100 years, Hang Luoc Flower Market still offers a unique charm that evokes nostalgia not only for Hanoians but also for visitors from afar when they visit during the Tet holiday season, as it represents the memories and cultural traditions of Tet celebrations in Hanoi, both past and present.

This year, the Hang Luoc flower market, also known as the Old Quarter Spring Flower Market 2026, is organized by the Hoan Kiem Ward People's Committee and implemented by Dong Xuan Joint Stock Company. The Old Quarter Spring Flower Market 2026 features several new aspects, including an expanded market space to create an attractive destination for locals and tourists to enjoy and shop for Tet (Lunar New Year). The flower market stretches along the streets of Hang Luoc, Hang Khoai, Hang Ruoi, Hang Ma, and the Phung Hung mural street.

To make it easier for locals and tourists to enjoy themselves, shop, and experience the festivities, the organizers did not set up stalls on the street but divided the area into sections: Tet flower market, traditional craft village, and folk art space. This made the 2026 Old Quarter Spring Flower Market not only a place for locals and tourists to shop for Tet but also an easy place to participate in cultural experiences.

Participating in the flower market for the first time, Ms. Chu Thi Linh, owner of Tien Linh Garden, brought hundreds of Da Lat orchid varieties to introduce to visitors, including many new orchid varieties popular this year such as the "precious pink orchid" and the velvet red phalaenopsis orchid… “I have participated in many events and flower markets before, but when I came to the Spring Flower Market in the Old Quarter, I was very impressed because it is not only a place for trade between sellers and buyers but also a cultural space showcasing the flower-growing traditions of Hanoi people, both past and present. Many customers come here not only to buy plants for Tet but also to exchange experiences in caring for and enjoying flowers,” Ms. Linh expressed.

Mr. Nguyen Anh Dung (from Lo Duc Street), who has maintained the habit of going to Hang Luoc flower market every Tet for over 30 years, said that this year the organization and division of areas have been done more systematically and scientifically . As a result, the display of ornamental plants is neat and orderly, overcoming the chaotic situation and encroachment on the road like in previous years, making it easier for people to comfortably admire flowers, plants, and shop for Tet.

The highlight of this year's Spring Flower Market in the Old Quarter is the experiential space on Phung Hung mural street, brightly decorated with many impressive miniature scenes and models such as a giant horse racing board game, and stalls constructed from rustic bamboo, creating a space that is rich in tradition yet still vibrant and attractive.

To enhance the value of the Phung Hung pedestrian area as a unique cultural and tourist destination, the organizers not only focused on decorating the space with vibrant spring colors such as Dong Ho paintings and traditional chess sets, but also organized many rich cultural and artistic activities such as Xam singing, calligraphy, making banh chung (traditional Vietnamese rice cakes), making to he (traditional Vietnamese figurines), painting Dong Ho paintings, and experiencing 3D chocolate painting… Here, visitors can also capture memorable moments with family and loved ones through modern digital photo booths, with photos taken on the spot.

Calligrapher Phan Thi Thanh Mai, a member of the Library Club at Bich Cau Dao Quan, who is participating in the Old Quarter Spring Flower Market for the first time with a calligraphy booth, said: "This year, the Phung Hung mural street area is organizing many unique cultural experiences. Among them, the calligraphy booths have become a highlight, helping locals and tourists clearly feel the long-standing traditional cultural space."

“We have welcomed many domestic and international visitors. Some came to ask for calligraphy, while others lingered for a long time to admire it. The calligraphy activities and many cultural experiences here have contributed to creating a space rich in identity, helping visitors better understand the beauty of spring culture of Hanoi people in particular and Vietnamese people in general,” shared Ms. Phan Thi Thanh Mai.

For over two weeks, with a variety of activities steeped in traditional colors, the Phung Hung mural street area attracted a large number of locals and tourists to visit, experience, and take photos, becoming an attractive entertainment spot in Hanoi.

The allure of the 2026 Old Quarter Spring Flower Market stems not only from the traditional memories evoked during Tet (Lunar New Year), but also from the innovative approach to its organization, helping the Hang Luoc flower market to increasingly integrate with contemporary life. More than just a place for trade and commerce, the flower market also brings together many renowned Hanoi flower artisans and becomes a cultural meeting point offering unique and distinctive experiences. This is what creates the unique charm and appeal of the Old Quarter flower market that is hard to find anywhere else.
