Tan Dinh Market, one of the oldest and most famous markets in Ho Chi Minh City, has just been officially recognized as a city-level architectural and artistic relic. With its nearly century-old architecture and bustling commercial atmosphere, this place is not only a shopping destination but also a journey back in time to old Saigon.

Hundred-year architectural mark
Built in 1926 and inaugurated in 1927, Tan Dinh Market was designed by the SIDEC company (France). The most noticeable feature is the facade painted in classic light yellow, along with three bell towers on the roof, creating a unique beauty, different from Ben Thanh Market or Binh Tay Market.
Inside, the high and wide dome structure helps the space to be airy and filled with natural light. The system of reinforced concrete columns, beams and trusses is meticulously built, demonstrating modern construction techniques in the early 20th century. This design not only ensures functionality but also brings high aesthetic value, lasting over time.

The bustling heart of commerce
Stepping through the gate of time, visitors will immerse themselves in the bustling trading atmosphere of about 400 stalls. Tan Dinh Market offers a variety of goods, from fresh food, dried goods, fruits to clothes and shoes. In particular, this market is famous for its fabric stalls with a variety of materials and colors, along with a rich culinary area that always attracts diners.
Every day, the market welcomes thousands of visitors, including locals and many international tourists who come to visit and shop. For traders, the market is not only a place to earn a living but also a second home. Ms. Nguyen Thi Thoa, a trader who has been here for more than 30 years, shared that the market being recognized as a relic is a great pride and pledged to work together to preserve the image of the market as clean, beautiful and civilized.

The future of a living heritage
According to Mr. Le Quang Thien, Head of Tan Dinh Market Management Board, the recognition of the relic is an affirmation of the historical, cultural and architectural values that the market has preserved. In the coming time, conservation work will be focused on, with priority given to preserving the original architectural details.
At the same time, the Management Board will implement plans to upgrade the market's image to match the new title. One of the notable projects is the "Friendly Counter" model, aiming at clearly posting prices, ensuring product quality and professional, civilized service attitude, in order to attract more tourists .
