(Baoquangngai.vn) - On the morning of August 14, Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Tran Phuoc Hien chaired a meeting with relevant departments, branches and units to listen to and give opinions on the collection of fees for using other irrigation products and services of the Tra Bong Saltwater Prevention Dam project for Hoa Phat Dung Quat Steel Joint Stock Company.
Tra Bong saltwater dam in Binh Duong commune (Binh Son) will be completed in mid-2022. The goal is to maintain fresh water, create a water supply for 200 hectares of cultivated land, and supplement the water supply for Dung Quat Economic Zone with a total volume of about 100,000 m3/day and night.

At the meeting, the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development stated that, according to legal regulations and through consulting with a number of central and local agencies and in practice managing and operating the Tra Bong Saltwater Barrier Dam, there is sufficient basis for Quang Ngai Irrigation Works Exploitation Company Limited (the project's operator) to collect money from providing other irrigation products and services to Hoa Phat Dung Quat Steel Joint Stock Company.
Quang Ngai Irrigation Works Exploitation Company Limited is responsible for coordinating with Hoa Phat Dung Quat Steel Joint Stock Company to calculate the cost to be reimbursed to Hoa Phat Dung Quat Steel Joint Stock Company for the construction of dams, operation of Binh Phuoc and Binh Nguyen dams and other costs related to water exploitation on Tra Bong River.

Meanwhile, the leader of Hoa Phat Dung Quat Steel Joint Stock Company said that before building Tra Bong Saltwater Dam, the Company still exploited surface water of Tra Bong River for production, not depending on this dam. The Company proposed that the Provincial People's Committee consider the appropriateness of legal regulations in applying the collection of fees for using other irrigation products and services of Tra Bong Saltwater Dam to Hoa Phat Dung Quat Steel Joint Stock Company.

After listening to the opinions of relevant departments, branches and units, concluding the meeting, Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Tran Phuoc Hien said that, in comparison with the regulations, it is necessary to collect fees for using other irrigation products and services of Tra Bong Saltwater Barrier Dam for Hoa Phat Dung Quat Steel Joint Stock Company. Quang Ngai Irrigation Works Exploitation Company Limited coordinated with Hoa Phat Dung Quat Steel Joint Stock Company to agree on the time to start collecting water usage fees and apply the collection price according to the provisions of law.
In order to ensure that the collection of fees for the use of other irrigation products and services for the Tra Bong Saltwater Dam project complies with legal regulations and harmonizes the interests of the state and enterprises, the Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee requested Quang Ngai Irrigation Works Exploitation Company Limited and Hoa Phat Dung Quat Steel Joint Stock Company to coordinate and discuss in detail the needs as well as other related issues to proceed with the signing of a contract between the two parties.
