Besides the films that were box office failures, the Vietnamese box office last year showed strong differentiation, witnessing a significant increase in films that grossed 200 billion VND. While the top 10 Vietnamese films at the box office in 2024 only reached 1,715 billion VND, this year that figure has increased by 1,000 billion VND.
Notably, the box office figures for just the top two films, " Red Rain" (714 billion VND) and "The Four Leopards " (332 billion VND), are impressive. It has surpassed 1 trillion VND. However, the gap between these two films is still large, as The Revengeful Quartet only achieved less than half the revenue of Red Rain.

Red Rain achieved an unprecedented feat by becoming the highest-grossing film in history with 714 billion VND before leaving theaters in a record short time of less than 6 weeks. Red Rain attracted over 8 million viewers, needed only 10 days to surpass the sales of The Four Leopards to become the highest-grossing film of the year, and after only 17 days of screening, dethroned Mai to become the highest-grossing film of all time.
Despite only being released on September 19th, "Death War in the Air" quickly climbed to third place in the top 10 highest-grossing films with 251 billion VND. "Detective Kien - The Headless Case" ranked fourth with 248 billion VND. Meanwhile, " Ancestral House ," Huynh Lap's best film starring Phuong My Chi, grossed 242 billion VND.
Although Ly Hai may not have maintained the same level of performance as in "Lat Mat 7 ," the revenue of part 8, released during the April 30th holiday, was enough to secure the film's 6th position in the top rankings with 232 billion VND. Meanwhile, Thu Trang's Lunar New Year film "Nu Hon Bac Ty" (Billion-Dollar Kiss) , despite fierce competition from Tran Thanh's "Bo Tu Bao Thu" (The Four Conspiracies ), remained firmly in 7th place with 211 billion VND in revenue.

After a long period of dominating the top spot at the box office, Tran Thanh was forced to relinquish his crown to female director Dang Thai Huyen of "Red Rain".
The film "Searching for Ambergris," starring Doan Quoc Dam, is perhaps the biggest surprise of the year-end film season, as this action movie has continuously broken box office records and, as of the afternoon of December 15th, had surpassed 203 billion VND after exactly one month of release.
Meanwhile, Bui Thac Chuyen's "Underground Tunnels - The Sun in the Darkness," which was a box office hit during the A50 season, only ranked 9th despite earning 172 billion VND. The Vietnamese-Korean co-production romantic film " Bring My Mother Away" rounded out the Top 10 with a staggering revenue of 171 billion VND.
