According to Tuoi Tre Online , these days, at Quang Ba flower market ( Hanoi ), magnolia flowers are being sold in abundance with many colors such as white, pink, purple, etc.

As a flower symbolizing elegance, good fortune, and auspicious beginnings, magnolias have become increasingly popular as decorations for Tet (Vietnamese Lunar New Year) in recent years.

Some flower shop owners say that magnolias are imported from China, with a fairly abundant supply and a wide variety of sizes, from tabletop varieties to branches about 1-1.5m tall, and even some that are 4-5m tall.

Magnolia blossoms in bud can last for over a month, while once fully bloomed, they last for about 20 days. This year, thanks to the warm weather, the quality of magnolias is considered better than last year, with more even and longer-lasting blooms.

Besides its elegant beauty, the magnolia flower also captivates enthusiasts with its delicate fragrance. Ms. Huyen Trang (Thuong Cat, Hanoi) shared that this year, the magnolias bloomed early, with larger flowers, richer colors, and a stronger scent. Loving the meaning of this flower, she chooses magnolias early every year to display in her home at the end of the year, hoping to close the old year in joy and serenity and welcome a new year with a prosperous start. - Photo: PHUC TAI

Along with magnolias, many other flowers symbolizing Tet (Vietnamese Lunar New Year) have also appeared at Quang Ba flower market, such as snowdrops, red carnations, and kumquat trees for tabletops.

However, according to vendors, at this time of year, people still mainly choose magnolias to enjoy early, while other types of flowers are usually bought more when Tet (Lunar New Year) is closer.

In about a month, shops will be stocking up on ornamental peach blossoms, plum blossoms, and pear blossoms; however, traders also predict that purchasing power this year will be somewhat slower than in previous years.

Ms. Vu Thi Phuong, a small vendor at Quang Ba flower market, said that snowdrop flowers, which were popular in previous years leading up to Tet (Lunar New Year), are experiencing slower sales this year. Currently, the price is around 100,000 VND per bunch. According to Ms. Phuong, the Tet flower market will only become vibrant in more than a month; at this time, vendors are mainly assessing demand and adjusting their stock. - Photo: PHUC TAI

Ms. Tran Thi Hong (from Hung Yen province), who sells kumquat trees at Quang Ba flower market (Hanoi), said that compared to the same period last year, the number of kumquats sold this year has decreased, partly due to the sluggish economy and people tightening their spending, and partly because people's preferences have shifted to other flowers such as magnolia, pear blossom, plum blossom, and apricot blossom. - Photo: PHUC TAI
