Major Nguyen Minh Phuong, Deputy Chief of Phong Dinh Ward Police, said that he had mobilized all officers and soldiers of the unit and the security forces at the grassroots level to divide into two working groups to be on duty. At the same time, he coordinated with the Traffic Police Department of Hue City Police to ensure traffic safety on the roads in the area.

“With the current prolonged rainfall, we have directed our forces to stay close to the base and continue to maintain the proposed plan to ensure people's safety before, during and after the flood,” Major Nguyen Minh Phuong emphasized.

Not only Phong Dinh, right from the time the water level started to rise in the communes, wards along the river, lagoon and low-lying roads, the Hue City Police force mobilized the maximum number of troops, arranging officers and soldiers to be on duty 24/7 at key checkpoints.

In Quang Dien commune on the afternoon of October 24, heavy rain caused Provincial Road 19 passing through the locality to continue to be deeply flooded, causing traffic disruption. Directing at the scene, Lieutenant Colonel Phan Bao Trung, Deputy Head of the Traffic Police Department of Hue City Police shared: "In addition to patrolling and blocking tasks, we focus on propaganda and mobilization, emphasizing that people absolutely must not move into dangerous areas to ensure their own safety."

Protect people at landslide sites

In deeply flooded areas, Hue City Police regularly patrol to detect landslides early in some steep hilly areas and key traffic routes.

Thuy Xuan Ward Police coordinated to set up barriers and traffic diversion at the landslide site on National Highway 49.

At the landslide point at Km23+800 of National Highway 49 from Cham to Tuan Bridge (Thuy Xuan Ward), a section of road had a landslide on the negative slope towards the bank of Huong River; water ate into the road foundation and created a deep hole about 6m wide.

According to the assessment of Thuy Xuan Ward Police, this is a vital route connecting the city center with the mountainous communes of A Luoi, the Hue bypass and the Cam Lo - La Son expressway. Every day, a large number of vehicles, especially heavy-duty vehicles, are recorded here.

Thuy Xuan Ward Police were present at the landslide site to put up ropes, put up warning signs and guide vehicles to travel in one lane; at the same time, widely informed the people to proactively prevent and avoid while moving. For now, the functional forces have coordinated to reinforce the landslide site with tarpaulins and sandbags to temporarily handle the landslide site.

For other landslides on the La Son - Tuy Loan highway and Phu Loc commune, the Traffic Police of Hue City quickly set up barriers and checkpoints, and deployed regular forces to warn and remind people. The inspection and review of roads at risk of landslides were carried out continuously, contributing to preventing risks and ensuring safety for vehicles and traffic participants.
