After a period of dating, Lam Hoang Duc Nha (born in 1993, from Soc Trang ) and Thach Duy Anh (born in 2005, from Can Tho) decided to get married. The couple's wedding was held on September 21-22.

With the desire to have a warm, intimate and close-knit wedding, Duc Nha decided to decorate the wedding space in an old-fashioned style. He did not reveal this idea to the bride and her family but quietly prepared it himself.
“On the morning of September 22, I followed my husband home. When I arrived at the groom’s house in Soc Trang, I was stunned by what I saw. A nostalgic wedding in an ancient style, everything was meticulously prepared,” shared the bride Duy Anh.
The bride's family was also surprised by the wedding space, both strange and familiar. Everyone was happy and touched by the meticulousness and thoughtfulness of the groom and his family.
Nostalgic wedding of a Western couple
“According to my hometown’s customs, on the wedding day, the bride must wear a red ao dai to her husband’s house, then change into her wedding dress to enter the main party. Coincidentally, the red ao dai I wore was very suitable for the wedding party space my husband prepared,” Duy Anh shared.
Groom Duc Nha spent 2 weeks preparing for the special wedding. He collected old items such as sewing machines, motorbikes, old televisions, cassette players, bamboo baskets,... some had to be bought, some had to be borrowed from relatives and friends.
Duc Nha then assigned the wedding party to a decoration unit, asking them to arrange and decorate it appropriately. He himself also directly participated in this process.
The wedding space has an ancient look that makes people nostalgic. The wooden door painted in green and yellow, small details such as bamboo baskets, bamboo poles, silk strips,... evoke the familiar feeling of the Vietnamese countryside.
The items are meticulously arranged.
The photo-taking space and the memory corner are designed like a painting, reminiscent of the old days. The classic patterned backdrop combined with the old TV, radio, telephone, etc. brings a sense of closeness.
“The decoration made the wedding feel warm and cozy. Thanks to the thoughtfulness of him and his family, I had a memorable wedding with many beautiful memories,” Duy Anh shared.
Duy Anh and Duc Nha's love story is enthusiastically supported by both families. Compatible in personality and outlook on life, the couple ignored the age gap and confidently moved towards marriage.
Wedding brings back memories of the old days
For Duy Anh, as long as you meet the right person at the right time, getting married at the age of nineteen or twenty is not too early.
“He proposed, and I was ready. I didn’t worry about getting married early or the age difference because I naturally liked older, more mature men. For me, as long as my husband and I love each other, that’s enough,” Duy Anh confided.
