In response to the controversial statements of Miss Ý Nhi, poet Nguyễn Quang Thiều, Chairman of the Vietnam Writers Association , gave his opinion.
He said he "had to laugh bitterly when thinking about that tragicomedy. If Y Nhi were my niece, I would have to laugh like that too."
The President of the Vietnam Writers Association said that Miss Y Nhi did not mean to be arrogant in that answer. She was just someone who had not been properly educated.
"Many people at her age have very cultured and knowledgeable behavior. Her lack of culture makes her look ridiculous... Nowadays, most 4-year-old children already know who to greet before coming home from kindergarten" - said the famous poet.
In response to the suggestion to strip Y Nhi of her beauty queen title, poet Nguyen Quang Thieu said that he personally found it unnecessary in this particular case. "Because she has realized her mistake and apologized to the community. Let her correct her mistake through her future activities for the community" - Chairman of the Vietnam Writers Association stated his opinion.
He added that what he wanted to suggest was to reduce beauty pageants because they certainly are not a stimulus for social development in any sense. On the contrary, Vietnam is inflating beauty pageants as well as many types of titles. Along with that is the inflation of uncultured behavior.
Previously, as reported by Nguoi Lao Dong Newspaper , in a question and answer session after the coronation, when the MC asked to name 3 famous people from Binh Dinh, the new beauty queen replied: "Me, poet Han Mac Tu and King Quang Trung".
Immediately, the answer of the beauty Ý Nhi received a lot of criticism. Many people thought that Ý Nhi answered incorrectly about basic knowledge when the poet Hàn Mặc Tử was originally from Quảng Bình , not Bình Định. Not only that, many people also thought that Ý Nhi had a disrespectful attitude when naming herself with big names like King Quang Trung or Hàn Mặc Tử.
Previously, Y Nhi also made controversial statements about her lover and friends. Most viewers commented that Y Nhi's statements were tactless and "overconfident about herself".
