President Luong Cuong presided over the official welcoming ceremony for the King of Jordan.

At the invitation of President Luong Cuong, King Abdullah II Ibn Al Hussein of the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan arrived in Hanoi, beginning an official visit to Vietnam on November 12-13, 2025.

Attending the welcoming ceremony were Minister of Foreign Affairs Le Hoai Trung; Head of the Office of the President Le Khanh Hai; Minister of Health Dao Hong Lan; Deputy Minister of National Defense, Senior Lieutenant General Vo Minh Luong; Vietnamese Ambassador to the UAE and Jordan Nguyen Thanh Diep; Deputy Minister of Public Security , Lieutenant General Dang Hong Duc; Deputy Minister of Agriculture and Environment Tran Thanh Nam; Deputy Minister of Industry and Trade Truong Thanh Hoai; Assistant to the President Duong Quoc Hung.

This is the first visit by the head of the Kingdom of Jordan to Vietnam and the first exchange of delegations at the head of State/Government level between the two countries since the establishment of diplomatic relations. The visit takes place in the context of the two countries celebrating the 45th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations (August 9, 1980 - August 9, 2025), contributing to opening a new phase of cooperation.

The motorcade escorting King Abdullah II Ibn Al Hussein entered the Presidential Palace. President Luong Cuong was present on the red carpet to warmly welcome King Abdullah II Ibn Al Hussein, who led the Jordanian high-ranking delegation on an official visit to Vietnam. Representatives of the capital's children presented King Abdullah II Ibn Al Hussein with a bouquet of fresh flowers.

To the sound of welcoming music, President Luong Cuong and the King of Jordan stepped onto the podium. After listening to the national anthems of the two countries, President Luong Cuong and King Abdullah II Ibn Al Hussein left the podium, bowed to the military flag and inspected the Honor Guard of the Vietnam People's Army. Next, the two leaders introduced the members of the high-ranking delegations of the two countries attending the welcoming ceremony.

Since the establishment of diplomatic relations on August 9, 1980, the relationship between Vietnam and Jordan has been continuously strengthened and developed. Recently, at a meeting with King Abdullah II bin Al-Hussein of Jordan on the occasion of attending the 3rd United Nations Ocean Summit in Nice (France) on June 8, 2025, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh affirmed that Vietnam attaches importance to multifaceted cooperation with Jordan; meanwhile, King Abdullah II Ibn Al-Hussein of Jordan expressed his admiration for Vietnam's socio-economic development achievements and strong rise. The two sides agreed to increase the exchange of delegations at all levels, especially high-level, to enhance political trust; consider negotiating and signing a number of cooperation agreements on trade, investment and other fields.

In the economic and trade field, bilateral cooperation has also seen encouraging developments, with two-way trade reaching approximately 190 million USD in 2024. The two sides aim to boost trade turnover to 500 million USD by 2030 and 1 billion USD by 2035.

Along with that, Vietnam and Jordan also strengthen cooperation in the field of food security, promote cooperation in the field of Halal, including human resource training, production, processing, packaging, distribution, mutual recognition of Halal certificates. The two sides strengthen cooperation in education and training, develop high-quality human resources in the fields of information technology, artificial intelligence, digital transformation and green energy... In addition to bilateral cooperation, the two countries also closely coordinate and support each other at international forums and organizations.

Building on the 45-year good development of Vietnam-Jordan relations, this visit to Vietnam by King Abdullah II Ibn Al Hussein of Jordan is expected to mark a historic milestone in the relationship between the two countries, opening a new phase of cooperation, creating a premise for promoting cooperation in areas of mutual interest.

After the welcoming ceremony, President Luong Cuong and King Abdullah II Ibn Al Hussein led high-ranking delegations from the two countries to hold talks, assess the results of cooperation between the two countries in recent times and propose directions for cooperation in the future.
