This activity is part of the Spring Homeland 2026 program, organized annually by the State Committee for Overseas Vietnamese (Ministry of Foreign Affairs ) in coordination with the Hanoi People's Committee.
At the ceremony, the President and his wife, along with delegates and overseas Vietnamese, respectfully offered incense to commemorate the contributions of Emperor Ly Thai To and other sages and martyrs who built and protected Thang Long - Hanoi , a city with a thousand years of cultural heritage, preserved the beautiful land of Vietnam, and nurtured precious cultural and historical values for the capital and the country to endure forever.


The President and his wife, along with delegates and overseas Vietnamese, expressed their reverence and prayed for national peace and prosperity, and for the country to confidently enter a new era of development.

Afterwards, the President and his wife, along with other delegates, participated in the traditional custom of releasing carp into Hoan Kiem Lake, a tradition observed during the Tet Ong Cong Ong Tao festival on the 23rd day of the 12th lunar month.


* Also on the morning of February 8th, the Chairwoman of the Central Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front, Bui Thi Minh Hoai, met with and honored a delegation of outstanding overseas Vietnamese.


According to the program, General Secretary To Lam will meet with a delegation of exemplary overseas Vietnamese attending the 2026 Spring Homeland program. On the evening of the same day, President Luong Cuong will extend New Year greetings to overseas Vietnamese and beat the ceremonial drum to inaugurate the Spring Festival at the 2026 Spring Homeland art exchange program at the National Convention Center for all overseas Vietnamese attending.
* Earlier, a delegation of exemplary overseas Vietnamese visited the Ho Chi Minh Mausoleum and laid wreaths at the Monument to the Heroes and Martyrs on Bac Son Street, Hanoi.

The Spring Homeland Program 2026, themed "Vietnamese Aspiration: Peace and Prosperity," took place from February 6th to 9th in Hanoi and Ninh Binh, with the participation and connection of approximately 1,500 overseas Vietnamese.
