In his speech, President Luong Cuong emphasized that in the cause of building and defending the Fatherland, especially in nearly 40 years of renovation, the Military Region 7's armed forces have always promoted glorious traditions, excellently fulfilling the functions and tasks of a combat army, a working army, and a production labor army.

Military Region 7 is the core force in building the all-people national defense, the all-people national defense posture associated with the people's security posture and the solid "people's hearts posture" in the southern strategic area of ​​the Fatherland.

Military Region 7 is a typical unit of the entire army in proposing and implementing many policies, projects, and creative models with profound political and social significance; proactively reaching out to the people with the spirit of "forgetting oneself for the people, sacrificing for the people", actively participating in building new rural areas, eliminating hunger and reducing poverty, taking the lead in preventing and overcoming the consequences of natural disasters, searching and rescuing, and preventing epidemics.

The unit is actively coordinating with localities to rapidly deploy the "Quang Trung campaign" to repair and rebuild houses for people in Lam Dong province and localities damaged by natural disasters and floods in recent times.

On behalf of the Party and State leaders, the President highly appreciated and warmly congratulated the feats, achievements and great contributions of the Military Region 7 to the glorious revolutionary cause of the Party and the nation over the past 80 years.

To successfully complete tasks in the new situation, the President requested the Party Committee and Command of Military Region 7 to focus on leading and directing the implementation of a number of key tasks.

First of all, it is necessary to always maintain the absolute and direct leadership in all aspects of the Party, the Central Military Commission, and the Ministry of National Defense; continue to thoroughly grasp Ho Chi Minh's military ideology, the Party's military, defense, and foreign affairs guidelines, especially the strategy to protect the Fatherland in the new situation; effectively implement the upcoming 14th Party Congress Resolution, the 12th Army Party Congress Resolution, and the 11th Military Region 7 Party Congress Resolution.

The second task is to focus on building a "revolutionary, disciplined, elite, and modern" military region, improving its overall strength, level, and combat capability; strictly implementing combat readiness regimes and disciplines; tightly managing airspace, sea areas, borders, inland, peripheral areas, cyberspace, and key areas; promoting the development of science and technology, innovation, and digital transformation in the military and defense fields.

Third, continue to closely coordinate with local Party committees and authorities to lead and direct the successful implementation of local military and defense tasks; in which special attention is paid to building provinces and cities into solid defense zones in the new situation and in the context of implementing the two-level local government model.

Focus on building a strong reserve force and a strong and widespread militia and self-defense force; act as the core force with other forces to effectively respond to and handle political security and non-traditional security situations right at the grassroots level.

Fourth, ensure timely and adequate logistics and technical equipment for tasks, both regular and unexpected, especially training and combat readiness tasks; take care to improve soldiers' lives; proactively prevent epidemics, promote increased production, practice thrift; manage, exploit and use weapons and technical equipment well, durably, safely and economically, and ensure traffic safety in the Military Region 7.

Military Region 7 maintains heroic tradition and determination to win

80 years ago, on December 10, 1945, in Binh Hoa Nam commune, Duc Hue district, Long An province (now Duc Hue commune, Tay Ninh province), the Southern Regional Party Committee Conference decided to establish zones 7, 8, 9. Since then, December 10 every year has become the traditional day of the Military Region 7.

Since its inception, the Military Region 7 has been united, self-reliant, self-reliant, overcoming hardships, fighting and building at the same time, and quickly maturing with many achievements in the two resistance wars against France and the US.

After liberation, the army and people in Military Region 7 quickly took on the task of maintaining political security, social order and safety, overcoming the consequences of war, and at the same time continuing to fight to protect the Fatherland on the southwestern border, fulfilling international obligations, and supporting Cambodia to escape genocide.

Entering the new phase, the Military Region 7's armed forces thoroughly grasp the Party's military and defense viewpoints, firmly grasp the two strategic tasks of building and defending the Fatherland; building a clean Party organization and a strong, comprehensive force; consolidating the all-people national defense associated with the people's security posture.

Many innovative plans, projects and models have been effectively implemented such as: building more than 350 km of border patrol roads; consolidating 63/72 permanent militia posts; building 58 residential areas adjacent to posts, stations and forts with more than 800 houses; supporting the construction of thousands of houses and 150 cultural and sports facilities; rear units supporting tens of billions of VND each year for border areas; strengthening coordination and assistance to the Cambodian army and people.

During the Covid-19 pandemic, officers and soldiers of Military Region 7 rushed to the front lines, staying at the most difficult places, helping people overcome the consequences, supporting economic development, eliminating hunger and reducing poverty, and effectively participating in the program of "eliminating temporary and dilapidated houses".

Over 80 years of construction, fighting and growth, the Military Region 7's armed forces have always maintained and promoted the qualities of "Uncle Ho's soldiers", patriotism, and revolutionary offensive spirit, forging the tradition of "limitless loyalty, proactive creativity, self-reliance, solidarity and determination to win".

With great contributions, Military Region 7's Armed Forces were awarded: 2 Gold Star Orders, 3 Ho Chi Minh Orders, 1 First Class Military Exploit Order, 2 First Class Fatherland Protection Orders, 1 First Class Feat Order.

The entire military region has 718 units and 423 officers and soldiers awarded the title of Hero of the People's Armed Forces; 17,684 Heroic Vietnamese Mothers; many collectives and individuals awarded noble prizes by the Party, State and Laos and Cambodia.
