According to Decision No. 504/QD-CTN, President To Lam decided to posthumously award the Medal of Courage to Mr. Tran Van Khien, former Forest Ranger of Vi Xuyen Forest Ranger Department, Forest Ranger Sub-Department, Department of Agriculture and Rural Development of Ha Giang province; Ms. Truong Thi Lan, former Forest Ranger of Phong Quang - Tay Con Linh Special-Use Forest Ranger Department, Forest Ranger Sub-Department, Department of Agriculture and Rural Development of Ha Giang province, for her brave actions and sacrifice while performing the task of fighting forest fires at the 2000 peak area bordering 3 communes: Phuong Tien, Xin Chai and Lao Chai, Vi Xuyen district, Ha Giang province, contributing to the cause of building socialism and defending the Fatherland.

In addition, President To Lam also signed Decision No. 505/QD-CTN dated June 12, 2024 to award the Bravery Medal to Mr. Nguyen Tien Hai, Forest Ranger of Vi Xuyen Forest Ranger Department, Forest Ranger Sub-Department, Department of Agriculture and Rural Development of Ha Giang province; Mr. Nguyen Duc Luan, Forest Ranger of Phong Quang - Tay Cong Linh Special-use Forest Ranger Department, Forest Ranger Sub-Department, Department of Agriculture and Rural Development of Ha Giang province for his brave actions in carrying out the task of fighting forest fires in the area of ​​peak 2000 bordering 3 communes: Phuong Tien, Xin Chai and Lao Chai, Vi Xuyen district, Ha Giang province, contributing to the cause of building socialism and defending the Fatherland.

Previously, on April 26, a large forest fire broke out in Ha Giang province in the Tay Con Linh range, resulting in more than 15 hectares of forest being burned and two forest rangers being killed.

The forest fire on Tay Con Linh mountain broke out at around 2am on April 26, the fire quickly spread to the forest in 3 communes of Phuong Tien, Xin Chai, Lao Chai in Vi Xuyen district of Ha Giang province. To save the forest, the functional sector of Ha Giang province mobilized about 1,000 people, including forest rangers, military ; functional forces of Vi Xuyen district and a large number of people from communes and towns to participate in fighting the forest fire.

After more than a day of mobilizing all forces, by the afternoon of April 27, the fire in Tay Con Linh special-use forest was extinguished. As a result, 15 hectares of forest were damaged, especially two forest rangers, ranger Tran Van Khien, Vi Xuyen Forest Ranger Department and ranger Truong Thi Lan, Phong Quang - Tay Con Linh Special-use Forest Ranger Department, sacrificed their lives.
