On the afternoon of January 20, in Ha Tien city, President Vo Van Thuong visited, presented gifts, encouraged and wished a happy New Year to officers and soldiers of the Ha Tien International Border Gate Border Guard Station, the Kien Giang Border Guard Command and representatives of people in the Ha Tien International Border Gate area.
Accompanying the delegation were Politburo member, Party Central Committee Secretary, Head of the Party Central Committee's Internal Affairs Commission Phan Dinh Trac and Politburo member, Ho Chi Minh City Party Committee Secretary Nguyen Van Nen. Also joining the delegation were leaders of the Vietnam Fatherland Front; Office of the President , Ministry of National Defense, Border Guard Command and Kien Giang province.
Ha Tien city has a particularly important position in terms of national defense, security, economy, tourism and foreign affairs with land and sea borders; has a large sea area, rich in potential for development in many fields.
Reporting to President Vo Van Thuong and the delegation, the Commander of the Ha Tien International Border Guard Station said that in 2023, officers and soldiers in the unit coordinated with relevant forces to perform well the task of protecting the airspace and sea; and well managing and protecting national border security and sovereignty.
The unit has grasped the situation, maintained regular patrols and controls on the border and landmarks, and especially effectively implemented the electronic border procedures connecting national single-window information, creating favorable conditions for people and goods to pass through the border gate.
The station has also closely coordinated with the border protection force of the neighboring country in managing and protecting the border, landmarks, and preventing smuggling and cross-border crimes. The unit built and supported the locality with 150m of rural roads; continued the program of adopting children in especially difficult circumstances, including Cambodian children.
Officers, soldiers and commanders of the Station regularly propagate and mobilize people to strictly comply with not fishing illegally; actively participate in building a "people's heart position"; build a solid "People's Border Defense", maintain solidarity and friendship with forces and people of neighboring countries in the border area.

President Vo Van Thuong expressed his joy at visiting Ha Tien, a coastal area with an important position in the southwest of the country; with a long history and rich culture, the land and people of Ha Tien have entered poetry with its beauty "like a land of poetry".
On the occasion of the coming of Tet and Spring, President Vo Van Thuong respectfully sends his best wishes to the Party Committee, government, army and people of Ha Tien city, Kien Giang province, and officers and soldiers of the Ha Tien International Border Gate Border Guard Station for a happy and safe Tet holiday and many achievements in the new year 2024.
Referring to the importance of Ha Tien - a strategic location for national defense and security, the President acknowledged and commended the achievements of officers and soldiers of the Ha Tien International Border Gate Border Guard Station in recent times.
The President also highly appreciated the effective coordination between the Border Guard and functional forces, authorities and local people in border management, control and handling of related issues; especially the efforts to prepare and implement the program "Spring Border Guard, Warming the hearts of the villagers".
The President stated that 2024 is the year that the entire Party, people and army will accelerate the implementation of the goals set by the 13th National Party Congress, and is also the year of many important events such as: the 80th anniversary of the founding of the Vietnam People's Army (December 22, 1944 - December 2, 2024); the 65th anniversary of the Border Guard's Traditional Day (March 3, 1959 - March 3, 2024) and the 35th anniversary of the People's Border Guard Day (March 3, 1989 - March 3, 2024).
The President said that this is an important time for the entire army to further promote the spirit of: Working army, fighting army, production labor army; promote the good image of Uncle Ho's soldiers, and better fulfill assigned tasks.
Emphasizing the top priority of officers and soldiers of the Ha Tien International Border Gate Border Guard Station in managing immigration across the border, the President requested that they do well and continue to create more favorable conditions for exchanges and trade between people and businesses of the two countries.
Along with that, it is necessary to maintain the role of the presiding agency, closely coordinate and cooperate with relevant forces in the task of managing and protecting border security and sovereignty; at the same time, continue to encourage people to actively participate in protecting and building a peaceful, cooperative and developing border.
The President instructed officers and soldiers in the unit to focus on the task of supporting people in safe fishing activities, supporting people's livelihoods, and preserving and developing fishing grounds for future generations.

Regarding the task of protecting national sovereignty and border security, the President requested officers and soldiers of the Ha Tien International Border Gate Border Guard Station to continue to rely on the people, coordinate with the people; promptly report, propose, and advise competent authorities to promptly resolve arising problems; and not be passive and surprised in any situation.
Along with that is implementing well the daily and weekly working regimes, maintaining and building a green, clean and beautiful unit, ensuring policies for officers and soldiers to work with peace of mind.
The President emphasized that the image of officers and soldiers in green uniforms is closely associated with daily activities, closely connected, flesh and blood, close to the people in the border areas, always understanding the feelings and sharing with the people. The President hopes that officers and soldiers of the Ha Tien International Border Gate Border Guard Station, Kien Giang Border Guard and the whole country will make more efforts, achieve more achievements to celebrate the 65th anniversary of the Traditional Day of the Vietnam Border Guard and the 35th anniversary of the National Border Guard Festival.
On this occasion, President Vo Van Thuong visited and presented gifts to Mr. Truong Tan Si, a seriously wounded soldier, in Quarter 3, Binh An Ward, Ha Tien City.
