Mr. Vikrom Kromadit - Chairman of Amata Group (Thailand)

Mr. Vikrom Kromadit - Chairman of Amata Group (Thailand) shared with the Government Electronic Newspaper about Amata's development vision in Vietnam as well as his impressions of an innovative and developed Vietnam.

"Vietnam is different in its belief and will to develop"

Can you share your impressions of Vietnam – the country you have been attached to for more than 30 years?

Mr. Vikrom Kromadit: I still remember very clearly the first time I set foot in Vietnam in 1991. What impressed me most was not the infrastructure but the people. I felt a very unique color here: the red of faith, of energy and of the will to develop.

I am very impressed with Vietnam's unified, clear and determined direction towards the future.

And now, Vietnam is not just a developing country anymore but has become an emerging center in the global value chain. This is the reason why I always believe that, if we know how to make good use of resources and intelligence, Vietnam can absolutely progress much faster than other countries in the region.

What do you think about the current development of Vietnam?

Mr. Vikrom Kromadit: We all feel very clearly that the North has a lot of potential to become a new industrial and technological center, if there is a methodical strategy and increased regional connectivity.

The South, especially Ho Chi Minh City, is developing very rapidly in finance, technology and innovation. There are clear advantages: central location, logistics infrastructure, strong financial and banking system, and especially high-quality human resources in R&D.

If we look at Shanghai – a major financial center of Asia – the lesson is clear: they develop stock exchanges, R&D centers, high-tech zones, creating a closely linked financial – industrial – innovation ecosystem. I think Ho Chi Minh City can absolutely aim for a similar model.

Amata has been present in Vietnam for more than 30 years. What will be Amata's strategy in the next phase, sir?

Mr. Vikrom Kromadit: Over the past 30 years, Amata has been involved in building the industrial foundation for Vietnam. Amata's development strategy in the next phase is fully aligned with the Vietnamese Government's green growth goals, based on three pillars:

First – Green : We are transforming Amata City Bien Hoa Industrial Park into a certified Eco-Industrial Park. The focus is on renewable energy – large-scale rooftop solar deployment – and circular economy , such as wastewater recycling towards Zero Liquid Discharge.

Second – High Technology : New projects, especially Amata City Long Thanh, are designed as “Smart Cities” from the beginning. We go beyond the simple industrial land model to attract electric vehicle (EV) manufacturing, data centers, medical equipment and R&D centers.

Third – Integrated Logistics : The new regional planning emphasizes the “golden triangle” of Long Thanh Airport – Cai Mep Port – Ho Chi Minh City. Our project locations are at the absolute center of this triangle. We are developing integrated logistics centers right in the industrial park, providing seamless “factory-to-global-market” connectivity.

Amata Corridor: Connecting Dong Nai to the global gateway

In addition to the two large projects in Dong Nai, does Amata have plans to expand to neighboring areas such as Ba Ria-Vung Tau or Cai Mep port, sir ?

Mr. Vikrom Kromadit: Amata's investment strategy is "infrastructure-led" – we go where there are strategic transport connections.

The new planning and focus on Ring Road 3, Ring Road 4 and Bien Hoa-Vung Tau Expressway are creating a strong economic corridor. The Cai Mep-Thi Vai port cluster is a factor that cannot be ignored – this is the gateway to the US and European markets.

Our vision is to create an "Amata Industrial & Logistics Corridor" connecting Dong Nai projects directly with the port ecosystem in Ba Ria-Vung Tau, forming a single, seamless supply chain for customers.

We also position Amata as a high-tech smart city, especially with its location right next to the new Long Thanh International Airport – a hub for high-value manufacturing and aviation logistics.

With the Ho Chi Minh City is expected to become the "coordinating nucleus" for the entire region. How do you see the opportunities for connecting the Southeast region?

Mr. Vikrom Kromadit: I think that, in this new model, the role of each locality is very clear:

Ho Chi Minh City will excel in its role as a "headquarters" – a center of finance, R&D, innovation and high-quality human resources.

Dong Nai and Amata act as “strategic deployment hubs” – providing the large-scale, high-quality industrial environment that Ho Chi Minh City’s innovation needs to scale.

In that model, we at Amata are the bridge. A company can set up an R&D center in Thu Duc City and an advanced manufacturing center in Amata City Long Thanh, just 30 minutes away via the new highway.

This creates a complete, resilient “Innovation to Production” value chain, making the entire Southeast Region more competitive than any other location in ASEAN.

"All Win": Cooperation for common development

How will your "All Win" philosophy be reflected in cooperation with Ho Chi Minh City?

Mr. Vikrom Kromadit: "All Win" means that our success is directly linked to the success of the local community, especially the main economic driver – Ho Chi Minh City.

On Innovation & R&D : We fully envision a new generation of projects. We propose to partner with HCMC innovation hubs – such as Saigon Hi-Tech Park or Thu Duc Creative City – to build satellite R&D and training hubs within Amata City Long Thanh. This would allow companies to co-locate research and production.

About Green Energy : Amata has been a pioneer in industrial rooftop solar. We want to cooperate with technology and financial companies in Ho Chi Minh City to develop smart grids and waste-to-energy plants, turning our industrial cities into models of sustainable development.

Future Vision : We are ready to co-develop a "Thai-Vietnamese Green Technology Park" with Ho Chi Minh City, focusing on electric vehicle (EV) ecosystem, smart agriculture technology and digital innovation – turning the "Comprehensive Strategic Partnership" into concrete, high-value projects.

With decades of experience in developing industrial and urban infrastructure investment, in your opinion, what is the most important factor for Vietnam to continue attracting investment?

Mr. Vikrom Kromadit: The most important thing is the quality of infrastructure and energy. A developing area that wants to attract investment must have stable electricity, clean water, good telecommunications and logistics. If we ensure these fundamental factors, we will have "good land" for businesses and investors to feel secure in long-term development.

I believe that Vietnam can do it – with strategic vision and close coordination between the public and private sectors.

We are living in extraordinary times. Vietnam is no longer just a ‘developing country’ – it is an emerging hub in the global value chain.

Thank you for this interesting sharing!
