Working scene.
The working delegation had a meeting and conducted a field survey of Hau Giang Biomass Power Plant in Long My ward (Can Tho city).
According to the representative of Hau Giang Biomass Energy Joint Stock Company, Hau Giang Biomass Power Plant is the first factory in Vietnam to use biomass raw materials such as: Rice husk (or wood chips) that can be regenerated from agricultural by-products. Electricity output is about 130 million kWh/year, consuming about 120,000 tons of rice husk/year. Therefore, the factory has contributed to reducing the amount of CO₂ emitted into the environment (about 201,600 tons of CO₂); turning agricultural by-products (rice husk, wood chips) into energy, reducing environmental pollution.
The fuel supply system uses Vietnamese technology (TAY DO Agricultural Mechanical Machinery Manufacturing Company Limited), with a capacity of 10 tons/hour. The factory has 9 rice husk suction machines, with 6 machines that can operate continuously in parallel, increasing the suction capacity up to 60 tons/hour. The boiler uses traditional condensing thermal power technology; uses German technology steam turbine, bag filter technology...

The working group of the Provincial People's Committee surveyed the steam turbine and generator area.
After putting into operation, factory management signed contracts for collecting and transporting rice husks; operating and maintaining biomass plants, contributing to creating jobs for farmers and local businesses. capable of producing electricity continuously and stably 24/7, contributing to stabilizing the power supply to the national grid (unlike solar or wind power plants that depend on the weather and are unstable).

Chairman of An Giang Provincial People's Committee Ho Van Mung (second from left) visits the port area supplying rice husks to the factory.
Speaking at the meeting, Chairman of An Giang Provincial People's Committee Ho Van Mung said that An Giang province has 2 biomass power plant projects that are seeking opinions and carrying out procedures to call for investment. In order to prepare for calling for feasible investors for the project, during the field survey at Hau Giang Biomass Power Plant, the province hopes that the unit will provide more useful information to invite experienced investors and choose the best investors. At the same time, during this visit, the province will send an investment invitation to units interested in the upcoming project.

Hau Giang Biomass Power Plant.
According to the plan, the province has 2 biomass power plants in Tri Ton and Vinh Gia communes. For An Giang province, the potential for biomass power sources such as straw and rice husks is very large, with a rice production area of about 1.4 million hectares.
The Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee emphasized that investing in biomass power will promote industrial development in the area; increase the proportion of industry in the economic structure of the province. At the same time, it will serve the implementation of the Project to develop 1 million hectares of high-quality, low-emission rice, associated with green growth; in which, the important content is to reduce emissions because currently most of the straw and stubble are burned...
The goal is to call for investment in biomass power projects along with the implementation of the 1 million hectare high-quality rice project. Through research, Hau Giang Biomass Power Plant mainly uses rice husk as raw material...
Enterprises wishing to invest in factories in An Giang province must meet requirements on straw and stubble treatment; modern treatment technology, reducing emissions as low as possible.
