On November 28, Mr. Le Thuan Doan, Director of Khanh Hoa Road Construction and Management Joint Stock Company (road maintenance unit) said that they have mobilized maximum forces and vehicles day and night to overcome the landslide on Khanh Le Pass (National Highway 27C, section through Nam Khanh Vinh Commune). However, it is not possible to predict the exact time when the Khanh Le Pass will be open to traffic with one lane.

After the recent flood, the pass suffered serious landslides at 52 locations with more than 100,000m³ of rock and soil; of which 19 locations completely buried the road surface. Some locations had half of the road surface eroded; some sections were about 100m long and more than 5m deep.
To date, 42 locations have been cleared to one lane, while 10 locations have yet to be cleared. Many blocks of rock weighing hundreds of tons are blocking the way, making it impossible for maintenance units to access the above points.

Faced with the dangerous situation, the authorities closed the road, allowing only specialized vehicles for repair work to pass. Khanh Hoa Provincial People's Committee also requested Military Region 5 and the Provincial Military Command to support the blasting of rocks, but the progress was slow because after destroying one point, workers had to clear the road before continuing to destroy another point.

The risk of landslides is even greater as many patches of soil and rocks are still precariously perched on the cliffs of the pass, while the weather is changing abnormally and storm No. 15 is approaching the mainland. Currently, the area is still experiencing light rain, many streams of water are still flowing quietly in the mountains, so the authorities are on duty to monitor and check continuously. Khanh Hoa Provincial People's Committee has declared a natural disaster emergency, assigning the Department of Construction to apply regulations to repair on schedule and safely.
