Responding to the movement “Join hands to eliminate temporary and dilapidated houses nationwide in 2025”, Ha Giang province is focusing resources to build shelters for the poor. Up to now, solid shelters have been built to help hundreds of poor households prepare for a warm Tet holiday.
After many years of living in a dilapidated makeshift wooden house, the dream of having a new house for Mr. Hoang Van Tuong and his wife, Mrs. Bon Thi Phan, in Ban Cuom 1 village (Ngoc Duong commune, Ha Giang city) is gradually becoming a reality. The family is poor and their main source of income depends on farming, so Mr. Tuong and his wife never thought that one day they would be able to build a new, spacious and solid house. With the support of 60 million VND from the State, along with the support of organizations and individuals, and the participation of relatives and neighbors in helping with labor, the house with an area of over 50 square meters is expected to be completed this December. Looking at the house gradually being completed, Mr. Tuong and his wife are very happy. Having a stable place to eat and live also gives Mr. Tuong and his wife more motivation to work with peace of mind to develop their economy and stabilize their lives.
Also in the last days of the year, the family of Mr. Ban Van Trung, a poor household in Nam Tai village (Ngoc Duong commune, Ha Giang city) is busy completing the final stages. It is expected that in just over a week, the house will be completed. This Tet At Ty, Mr. Trung's whole family will welcome a new spring in a spacious, warm house. Up to this point, Ha Giang city is speeding up the construction of houses for poor and near-poor households in the area. According to the plan, the whole city will have 8 houses completed and handed over to poor households and households in difficult circumstances before Tet.
In order to help poor households celebrate the upcoming Lunar New Year in new houses, Quang Binh district is focusing on mobilizing all resources to speed up the process of eliminating temporary and dilapidated houses. Through screening, the district currently has 162 poor households in need of support to build new houses and 17 repaired houses. Families building new houses will receive support at the rate of 60 million VND/household, households repairing houses will receive support of 30 million VND/household, houses built according to the 3 hard criteria: hard foundation, hard wall, hard roof. Under the strong direction of the Party Committee and local authorities, 135 new houses have been started to be built. Currently, in Quang Binh district, 9 houses are being completed for handover to families, including 4 newly built houses and 5 repaired houses.
According to the recent review results, Ha Giang province still has 5,848 households in need of support, of which 4,951 households need to rebuild and 897 households need to repair. Responding to the movement "Join hands to eliminate temporary and dilapidated houses nationwide in 2025", Ha Giang is determined to complete the elimination of 100% of temporary and dilapidated houses for poor households in the area by the end of 2025.
Chairman of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of Ha Giang province, Vang Seo Con, said that with a high determination to complete the goal of eliminating temporary and dilapidated houses by 2025, the entire political system from the province to the grassroots level is making efforts to join in, calling on all people and businesses to diversify forms of support to help poor households and households in difficult circumstances build new, spacious houses. After more than a month of implementing the movement to eliminate temporary and dilapidated houses, up to now, in Ha Giang province, about 600 houses of meritorious people, poor and near-poor households are being built and repaired, and many of them are expected to be completed before Tet so that people can enjoy a full and warm Tet holiday.
